The Nikon D40 makes taking great pictures easier than ever. It contains all the top quality, high performance technologies you would expect from a Nikon digital SLR (including a 6.1million pixel CCD, Nikon flash technology, and the world-famous Nikor lens), borrowing much from it's big brother, the Nikon D80. However the new D40 is designed specifically for ease of use. This means you can capture spectacular photographs without the complications, calculations and years of expertise that using an SLR once required. The jump from simple snapshot cameras into Digital SLRs has never been easier!

* Pixels - 6.1 million
* Lens size - 18-55mm
* Screen size - 2.5 inch
* Frames per second - 2.5
* Memory format - SD

* Manual ISO overrides
* Aperture/shutter priority
* Nikon AFS lens fit
* USB connection
* Manual focus

Argos are currently selling this for £224 but with a £10 gift voucher, so it can work out slightly cheaper there if you can use the voucher :thumbsup:

I read a rumour on thedvdforums.com that there were going to be new cashback deals from Nikon from November 1st.

http://www.reuters.com/article/rbssLeisureProducts/idUST23491120081030 says that Nikon are cutting their forecast profit for the year by a third, but that they are planning to increase digital SLR sales from 3.3 to 3.5 million. Some of the drop in profits is due to changes in exchange rates, but they may well be planning on dropping prices. The D40 has been around for a while and they have been available for £220 every month or two recently. I think they will drop quite a bit more, quite soon.
