Nikon D40 - £249.99 collect at store

£249.99 @ Jessops
Now that Amazon are back up to £269.99 for the D40, why not take Jessops on at a snip under £250 and collect in store. Potentially £242 after 3% quidco and any vouchers that may work. Read More

This camera should be getting cheaper and cheaper with prices, the D40X wasn't exactly much of an improvement than this and this SLR is pretty end of line (Launched 20 months ago now).

The D40 was an opening offer at £179.99 at Currys, Junction 9 M6 store last week, along with the Sony A200 at £199.99.

This camera doesn't have an internal focus drive motor and hence no mechanical focus drive pin, instead it only has CPU contacts which means it can only Auto Focus with AF-S and AF-I lenses (those with built-in focus motors). Meaning you are limited with lenses.

At this price range, and I have looked, spec by spec the Sony Alpha 200 is FAR better, I know I compared the two and plumped for that instead, which has newer technology, a better CCD (Nikons D40 uses an older Sony CCD), antishake, selectable manual and autofocus all in all a much better camera for £250.

Voted cold, for an end of line product.
