Hi, I've been looking all over for a cheap deal on the Nikon D5000 and everywhere seems to be selling for £479.99 +. Except for this one at camerabox for £449.99 +£7.99 delivery. It is also worth noting that there is a 5 year warranty included in this for no extra cost.

I know some people don't like shopping online, but it might be worth being cheeky here. I printed off the details and went to Jessop's and John Lewis and asked whether they would do a price match. Jessop's were rubbish and just said no so I went to John Lewis', showed them my print off (which was dated) and they did a price match, which took the price down to £447, with no delivery charge.

There you go, two deals. Please be gentle with me as this is my very first post. Also, how do you attach a photo?

Cheers

cracking piece of kit - I bought this camera at Christmas for my wife and also a 70-300mm TAMARON lense - got a sweet deal from Jessops (reserved online, collected in store) and they threw in filters and a few other wee bits and bobs.

Get the TAMARON lense if you can - great zoom, really only put this to test yesterday at our Local Safari Park - unbelievable picture quality - also shoots not too bad HD Video

Well done on getting John Lewis to price match - they never do this with online retailers! Did they give you 5 year warranty or was that with Nikon directly?

I brought this camera about 3 months ago and can't get enough of it! Amazing picture and such a great piece of kit. Also brought the nikkor 70-300mm VR lens which is and amazing addition allowing great close ups, whilst keeping sharp, crisp and vibrant pictures.

As for the price here, not sure, I guess it's good if you really want it now?! personally I would wait until after the summer when Nikon will start thier cashback scheme again, it was £50 on the D5000 when I brought it. I paid £412 for this kit from Jaccob Digital after the cashback and quidco.

If do you get a grey import Nikon, it won't be eligible for Nikon's 2 year warranty.

You get a warranty from Camerabox for 5 years instead of the Nikon 2 year warranty. Like I said, I printed off the camerabox details and got John Lewis's to pricematch it anyway, which means I have the standard Nikon two year warranty anyway but have got it a little bit cheaper and not had to pay for P&P.

I was trying to wait, but my camera had died and tbh it hadn't been that great recently, especially taking pictures of my 1 year old, who doesn't understand the concept of stay there! So far I must say the pictures have been amazing and I am truly impressed. I just need to read the manual a bit more as I don't think I am using it anywhere near to the camera's capacity.

good work getting jl to pricematch!

camerabox are dodgey, keep an eye on your creditcard and debit card.

it may come with 5 year warrenty, however there is so much grief dealing with them

heres a nice site to find camera and lens prices http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/index.html - it has a nice graph of each product which shows general changes over time

I've bought a camera and a couple of lenses from CameraBox, all have been delivered next day with no problems. When I rang them to change a delivery address, they answered straight away, and were helpful enough. Wouldnt hesitate to use them again.

You may get lucky and get what you want first time. I have had 1 camera delivered perfectly but another they promised without delivering, lied and eventually I hhad to get my credit card company to sort them out.

Whilst you might get the product ok, if you buy from them expecting anything out af a 5 year guarantee, you may be sorely disappointed.
