Shouldnt include Quidco in the price not everyone uses it and its not guaranteed.

£540 does not sound like entry level to me!

Plenty of 'entry level' DSLRs are coming under the £300 mark these days.

My "Entry level" Sony A200 cost less than half this price!

It's an entry level Nikon.

Personally, friends and family members have two D60s, a D80 and a D90 between them, so the possibility to borrow and use lenses makes Nikon more attractive than Sony. May be other people in similar positions and this is the cheapest D5000 around.

Nikon d5000 is not an entry level camera, although it's the best in it's class, image wise.

Generally considered an upper-entry-level camera - Not the best in class image wise though, although you could debate......
Very very good camera with lots of bells and whistles for this money.
(Can't compare to a Sony A200???? Camera technology moves on very quickly nowadays)
Look at the Canon 500D as well though.
