I just picked up 3lts of TX direct for £21.99 delivered, so good value.

Cheers

Add Tech Wash 300ml @ £1.50 each if needed

Someone posted similar the other day where you get 1x 300ml tech wash and 1 x 300ml tx direct wash for £3.40 + the 3.99p&p.
Depends on which product you want, price difference per 100ml is negligible.
Tech wash on it's own is £1.50 for 300ml, so £9.99 for 1.2 litres inc postage.
I'd go for more tTech wash than TX as Tech wash is used more frequently.

Isn't this stuff just very watery PVA adhesive? Unibond is a lot cheaper.

Used this product and not really impressed with it. Wouldn't use it again.

If you add 3 x 300ml tech wash @ £1.50 each to this deal on Amazon it comes to £14.49 delivered

Someone needs to put some facts in here...

I bought the 2 x 300ml the other day and want to know what I'm dealing with! Plus I want my clothes waterproof...

Hi, the tech wash is for washing any outdoor kit. The TX direct is for re proofing waterproof garments such as eVent on GoreTex fabrics. So ideally you wash with tech wash to clean and then use TX direct to re proof.

Cheers OP. I meant specifically can anyone counter/back the claims made against these products?

Furthermore, what about waterproofing products that weren't originally waterproof? Or are there any other "normal" bits of kit that are worth waterproofing? Say, a pair of lightweight combat trousers a la craghoppers?

For the purposes of completion, here's the stuff I'm thinking about (re)waterproofing:
- Berghaus RG1 jacket (mesh lined)
- Schott Bomber jacket (padded)
- Superdry ski pants (fleece lined IIRC)

Ta :)

Ah, Gotcha. I dont have any science to hand, but i do notice an improvement when re-proofing my eVent waterproof after a wash. You can see the water beading on the surface and it takes longer to "wet out" I'd say it makes a difference, but nothing's quite as good as the jacket before a wash.

Re-proofing stuff thats not waterproof currently might not work too well - not too sure about that. The Nikwax site is really good for explaining things, so i'd check there. They do have a load of products available for proofing fleece items, tents, ropes and all sorts, so no doubt have a product for it. Yu'll be fin washing them with tech wash and probably fine reproofing them with TX Direct, but at your own risk :)

3 bottles arrived today, beating their delivery estimate by 4 days. One had leaked slightly though, annoyingly :(
