There is a £15 visa charge,(I think) and £15 tips on top of this.

Not Included:

UK £15pp for all on board gratuities (payable directly to your Tour Guide)
Items of a personal nature, such as drinks, additional gratuities etc.

Here's what you get to see, on the optional balloon trip:-

I went on a Nile Cruise around 9 years ago - it is absolutely amazing.

Wish I could go on this!

I went last year, on one of the Nile cruises. Had a great time, the visa was £10 then.

To backup what Copthis 1 said above; be prepared for some nasty diarrhea. Some simple precautions :
1/. Avoid drinking all tap water - this includes ice in all your soft drinks/cocktails
2/. Avoid salad items even onboard ship (firstly because the salads are washed using local water before coming on th ship and secondly the reason they are washed is that many local farmers use human excrement as fertiliser)
3/. Check the seals of all water bottles before you buy them - many stores refill discarded water bottles with tap water.

I am NOT saying this travel/cruise firm do any of the above, and does not diminish a hot deal. I am just giving some information on common practices in these parts of the world if you've never been before which is a large cause of diarrhea.

Hot deal.

The boats look like prisons!!! - they shoud have "wlecome to hell" written on the sides!!
#7
Wow, I don't think I could handle the heat of Egypt in July!!! Good deal tho!

Getting the runs when abroad is sometimes just due to the body being shocked by the change from UK temperatures to sitting out baking like a lizard in union jack swimming trunks all day in 35 degrees fulll sun! Drink plenty of water.

I have travelled to various places around the world (Maldives, Mauritius, Caribbean, etc) and have never had the squits like when I went to Egpyt.
Follow the advice above and be prepared for at least a minor dose of the trotskies:thinking:
Still a cracking deal though.

Have been to Egypt twice, and provided you are sensible and don't drink the water you will have no problems. Of course the weather is fantastic and the scenery down the Nile is breathtaking.

The people are the friendliest I have ever encountered. We spent a few minutes talking to a shop keeper on our first visit, when we went back two years later he remembered us and invited us to his wedding!

i went last year. made sure i drank only sealed bottles and used hand sanitizer before and after food, also drink beer with your food to help kill any bugs (or at least stops you thinking about them). We were both fine because we were careful, if you drink the local water be sure your bum will fall out.

Did this trip last year (on a different boat but looked very similar to these two) and it was fantastic! The trips are brilliant although its an early start each morning ranging from 5am to 7am but then its much cooler as you don't want to be walking round during the hottest part of the day. Then in the afternoons you are free to make the most of the free booze! If these are all inclusive didn't check that? If they aren't then it may be worth trying to go that way if you can, otherwise your stuck with having to pay what ever they want to charge for drinks etc as you can't exactly pop somewhere else when your in the middle of the Nile ;-)

LOL... All Inclusive....'fraid not..not for this sort of price.....But everything else is included....

The drinks are fairly expensive, But there's ample opportunity to pop into one of the local shops in Luxor or Aswan to purchase lots of cheap drinks...... You have a fridge in your cabin.
Also take your duty free with you......

Don't forget that ice cubes will be made with tap water.

Went many years ago and was totally carefull but had a few vodka and cokes with ice one night and bang. Rudolph the red ar*ed tourist.

What perfect timing! My mum arrives here from Australia later today and she got her shots coz I said we'd go to Egypt... turns out she got every side-effect known and was sick as a dog for 4 days... She'd be peeved if we didn't go.
For this price we'll be going for sure!!!! Thanks for the above advice with food and water, etc.

I assume these tours go to Pyramids and stuff .. lol??

When going to Egypt its probably wise to avoid 'bargains.' Stick to reputable brands of water, hotels, everything.

Nope you don't see the Pyramids, thats the other end of the Nile (Cairo). But the Valley of the Kings and Luxor Temple and the Unfinished Obelisk is much better anyway, as its a right dump around the pyramids :whistling:
You can pay extra to see them though (well over £100 if i remember correct) ............ and take an optional full day excursion by air to Cairo and visit the Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities and the bustling Khan-el-Khalili bazaar.

This would be a great trip to take my kids on who are both currently doing Ancient Egypt in their Primary school. They'd probably learn an awful lot more and taking them out of school would be justified for this visit.

This missus cant get the time off though - so unless I took them on my own.... hmmmmm. cogs are turning now....Didn't see anything about a triple berth though - only twins. Anyone know?

Please note: It is not possible to accommodate a third person in any of the twin berth cabins. A third bed can be placed in the suites, however space will be limited and the extra bed is likely to be of a folding or camp bed style and therefore recommended only for children up to 15 years of age.

OMG I just wrote a really long message with loads of detail as me and my g/f arrived back from the Da Vince last night and the bloody website screwed up and I lost it all!!

Bloody IE!! :x

Will try to write another one later but long and short of it is cruise is great - visa is only £10 and paid at the airport on arrival - apparantly food is washed in mineral water on the boat - hot air balloon is a rip-off (we used www.sindbadballoons.com but website seems to be down - £35 per person and brilliant!) - drinks on boat are expensive (water is £1.10 on boat but 30p in local shops for same size bottle - just make sure seal is intact and it is a known brand (most shops sell Vittel, Dansai (Coke) or Aquafina (Pepsi). Cans are £1.20 on boat or 40p in shops.. ;-)) - optional excursions are £5 or £10 more than it says on the site - needs to be updated - and £15 tips for staff is compulsery but stops them asking for tips all the time... £2 per day per person is reccomended to tip the tour guides but it's not compulsery and most people we spoke to tipped as much as they felt was appropriate.

Hmm.... think I might've waffled in my last post as that's summed it up pretty well... lol! :-D

Good advice - did two weeks in Egypt a couple of years ago, followed this advice to the letter and suffered no ill effects at all. Plenty of others on the same trip ate the salad and were very ill indeed !!
Nice price.

I went on this a few weeks ago... Hardly anyone got the runs....

Thinking about doing the trip as a single traveller. Do you get many people doing this.
#28
There were two, or three single travellers on our trip..
But after a day or two you're all one happy family. You get to know many fellow travellers, and most, if not everyone is friendly.
Well they were on our two trips.

Meals are always taken at the same seating positions you take on the first meal....So if you want to choose who you sit with, do it the first day....But to be honest everyone got on well.
#29
Partner went with her 12 year old son year before last. They had a superb time, were careful but not over careful on food etc and didn't suffer at all.
Everyone was extremely friendly. Tips are a must wherever you go and whatever you do. Stock up on some 1 dollar notes prior to going. Tip your cabin attendant well on the first day and they'll look after you all week.

If I tell her about this offer I think she would seriously think about going back.

Rocky and myself have been putting some photo's up in the following thread if anyone's interested

What about the M.S. Da Vinci ? At £299 that's a steaming offer as well.
#33
Done this one and no SQUITS and I do normally suffer. Please research the company I was going to book a cruise with African Safari from Mombassa until I read the the reviews about this company. Definatley a no no for me at any cost.
I used Discover Egypt no problems but do watch out for baksheesh (tips) everyone needs em as this is the only form of wage for some people.

The problem is the flights.. can't get back from Luxor unless you stay an extra week .

You can book just the cruise for £199 if you can find flights for under £50.
#35
Thought this wa s great deal myself but when you read some of the reviews of African Safari Club you realise you get what you pay for.....

I've been with African Safari, and also Discover Egypt...
Hardly any difference, except for a huge saving in price!

If you really want a luxury cruise then you pay a luxury price....
Some of these boats charge well over a grand for the same trip...

£250.....You can't even get a return flight for that amount!!

Some people are really difficult to please...LOL.:whistling:
#37
So this thread should be expired, as title suggests an unobtainable price?
#38
I rang and both deals are now full at the promotion price and also was told if there were any spaces kids are not allowed
