Hello there

Was shopping around for the best 3ds deal with games and came across this.

Now to get the console alone is MUCH cheaper elsewhere, but with 2 games this works out the cheapest deal to me as the games retail @ £35.00 minimum in most places, even if you do get the console on the cheap.

its available instore and online.

they also have a bundle with one game and a case for £220.00 but that didnt seem as good.

Good deal if you want two average games.

This. I don't really want a single title from the launch line-up. Someone would have to pay me to play a second.

I went into a shop today that had '3DS - OUT NOW!!!' signs all over the place, hoping that I'd get to have a go on one because, you know, it's a bit hard to convey the 3D effect by marketing, it's something you really have to try to know what it's like, and I want to try it. There wasn't a console in sight - just a few cardboard display boxes and games. Way to sell it. oO

I really want one but I think I'm going to wait for the price to drop a bit (also I'm broke so I can't afford one at any price right now). Also for a few more games to come out (like Zelda!). Plus I only just got Pokemon Black so don't feel like I've squeezed the last drop of life out of my DS yet.

I noticed there was one in a display box in HMV in the Sheffield city centre. There isn't in the Lincoln one though. You can't play it, but you can see the 3dness (it looks better up close, though).

Can't see these shifting to the average Sun reader until they're opened up for piracy.
#14
if you want to actually try one I would go into Game or Gamestation, they usually have one for trial if you ask a member of staff.

I got to have a go of one last week which was what convinced me to buy one! I got to try Street Fighter and it just looked so good!
#15
Would the Tesco Direct offer not work out slightly better (assuming code TDX-KMAW works - £10 off when you spend £50 at Tesco Direct). You only get one game but cost would be £199 plus quidco plus 418 Clubcard Points which could potentially be worth up to £12 in Rewards.
#16
I went for this one as it was instore.
If you have a clubcard then yes that works out a bit better, but otherwise they work out about the same or toys r us comes out marginally ontop if the code isnt working ( I discount quidco as you only get £6 and in the past it hasnt even tracked for me at tesco :( )

Tesco £199+ a game (with code) + another game, works out around £234 , take off value of the two games ( works out £165 odd again) but you get points which can make it better

toys r us , £235 but with two games (£70 worth) so that reduces your 3ds price to £165 pro = instore/ no use of codes , con = no clubcard points.

that was my logic anyway

Went to Toys R Us today (Portsmouth) and there are a couple available to try - more fun than I thought!
The deal is good too - heat added!

oh and those playing it. I wouldnt start angling the screen from side to side when your playing! it made my eyes feel pretty disoriented! got to look at it straight on.

Doesn't work for 3DS games though. :P

BBC didn't give this a very good review today and people usually listen to them. Maybe it'll go down a bit if the uptake is slow.

True. It'll only be a matter of weeks though. Nintendo are balls at system security. It's already a big fail that existing cards work in it just with a firmware update.

I'm resisting getting one as I'm not too interested in the launch games (and holding out for a flashcard :) )

ive just been to try one out at comet i was going too buy one but after playing it forawhile ive ecided not too get one the 3d takes some getting used to you have to be in the sweet spot for it too work and go a litle cross eyed after 10 mins i started to get a headache so i gave it back the salesman agreed they take a lot of getting used too and i can understand why some are saying there not good for small childrens eyes...i thik ill pass on this one
#24
That's exactly the review the bloke on the BBC gave it :)

I had my first go on the 3DS today at GAME in the Oracle shopping centre, Reading. Really helpful staff showing how it worked etc and were genuinely enthused about it.

I had my doubts before my go on it, but they quickly disappeared as I gave Pilot Wings a good play. The 3D effect is really, really good. Yes you do need to be in a sweet spot, but it appears there are a number of up and down and angled sweet spots (not left to right) so its not like you have to stay completely fixed in place.

The 3D slider is a good idea. On full 3D I didnt experience any disorientation or dizziness but the adjustment is nice to give your eyes a rest.

Graphics were roughly wii-like (no doubt helped by the small screen that doesnt show blemishes like a big hd tv) and once I was playing, it was great just to fly about. Felt like I was in the game.

Really impressed. Want to buy and I know the price wont drop for about 2 or 3 years (judging by the DS and DSi) so I guess it is time to save up!

it makes me mad that we people in UK have to pay extra for what poeple in other countries (example USA and Japan) are paying for almost every electronics/technology product.the Nintendi 3DS is $249.99 is usa thats around gb£125!!! and yet we UK residents are thrilled about one particular greedy retailer charging us twice it's worldwide price..how stupid and ironic is that??

It's been a while since it was $2 to the £ mate. Try something in the region of $1.6 and you're not far away...

Agreed. The AK2i works already from what I've read. Let's see how long it is before the 3D games are hacked!! :D

When I went to the 3DS stand in covent garden yesterday I couldn't believe the amount of people moaning about the 3d being too much, well guess what that's what the slider is for! It works perfectly if pulled back a bit. Think Nintendo should have lessened the effect at max.

It'll be longer. The AK2i works, but they've pulled the latest update - no doubt counteracting the firmware update that Nintendo have already released (with the offer of a 3D music video to those who update). There are rumours out that the 3DS can detect flashcarts and its possible to brick the 3DS this way, and whilst these may prove to be unfounded there's a warning on some flashcard sites making people aware.

Your exchange rate is a bit off there, since when did we get $2 to the £?

It's more like £160
#34
if only metal gear 3 was a launch title!

i agree there is a shortage of good 3DS games available

Then add on 20% VAT making £192, which is more or less what you could get it for if you look around. However you could also argue the Americans would probably get deals at around the $200 mark. :)
