Has been stated online that the battery life on the Nintendo 3DS is only about 4-5 hours but can be increased to over 16 hours with a replacement 4500mAh battery, this is 5000mAh so even more.

Nintendo 3DS, N3DS - Li-ion Ultimate Long Life Extended Battery with cover - 5000mAh

Amazon Customer Review:

5.0 out of 5 stars "An essential addition", 29 July 2011

"This review is from: Nintendo 3DS, N3DS - Li-ion Ultimate Long Life Extended Battery with cover - 5000mAh
One of the few flaws with the 3DS is its Battery Life, but this Battery fixes that problem wonderfully. Admittedly it makes the 3DS thicker & heavier, but that is a small price to pay to enable it to function for extended periods away from a power source, which then enables full use of its features.

Highly recommended. "

The standard battery fitted in your 3DS is only 1300mAh

So can expect about 3 times more life? That should bring it in the range of a DS lite! (~10 hours)

Impressive.
#5
it increases the size of the 3DS, shame
#6
does this just plug into the 3ds or does it replace the current battery?
#7
Sounds good but how much thicker does it make the 3DS please, don't want to buy a new case!

Thanks in advance

Fitting instruction video by the looks of it :)
#9
Dont think it will work with the circle pad pro
#10
Adds a lot of bulk to the 3ds, but that might not be important to some.

:) I am tempted to get this for flights / long boring conversations with the Mrs but my 3ds is white, so I just don't know if I can live with the double fugliness lol

I think this is a better option if you don't want to much bulk, costs more but looks better?

I was eyeing that up intitally but:

"Sold out, stock due shortly"

Still haven't made a decision whether to go for this yet as I've only had the 3DS for just over a week and it's doing fine, very happy with it. It's nice to have the option though.

I have that one, ordered it from Amazon US, and even with postage to the UK it worked out cheaper than those rip-off artists. Its really good, nice rubberised finish on the battery.

Got mine from the £10.99 Amazon seller, took a lot longer to charge (as expected) but the battery is lasting ages, normally have to charge it every other day, but has lasted much, much longer. It is heavier, but doesn't look too bad. Does mean I can keep the streetpass/wifi on all the time so more likely to pick up more hits for the quest for hats :)

It's 5000 mah, it's the same as on the video shown earlier, can take some pics if you like. Fits in the official 3DS case I have which means I can get a dozen games, USB cable etc aswell - Case - mine is black though
