These any good for an adult? Looking at a ps vita but never had a shot of one of these.
I'm 39 and have a 3DS XL and a Vita etc etc...gaming isn't an age thing, its a fun thing. ;-)

Good price. Worth noting that the "new 3DS" release date will be announced soon though.

No. You're an adult.

Yes, you can play the older DS games with the 3ds.

Thanks for giving me credit for the voucher code OP....

should come with old firmware, so should be fine with a gateway 3ds or r4i card
if you have an extra £50, go for the white 3ds xl with 3d mario world pre-installed (with has 4.3 firmware) (_;) gateway ready
the games is worth about £30 so only really works out an extra £20
as you need to buy a game anyway

I was going to get my 6 year old son a dsi xl (they are £60 new)
Would I be better with this for £69 ?
I've been given a r4 card..... Will they both play it?

Id recommend a XL as i find with my aging eyes the 3DS screens too small.

R4 I dont think will work on 3DS.

Original 3ds is now discontinued so must be clearing stock.

I've been given a r4 card..... Will they both play it?

depends on the card and the firmware of the console
the card will need to be a r4i as far as im aware
for it to work on a dsi and a 3ds
r4 cards were for ds lite and ds phat hand helds
firmware i think needs to be 4.3 on th 3ds for it to work
and will only work with normal ds titles (roms)
the gateway 3ds card will do both nds titles and 3ds titles
but need the 3 ds needs to be on firmware 4.1 to 4.5 at the min
there is supposed to be suppoert for later firmware coming soon but wont be as stable as that of 4.1 to 4.5
if your 3ds comes with firmware 3.0 say
dont update it via the e-shop as it will put the lastest firware on
you need to find a game with 4.1 to 4.5 update on (googke is your friend)
i dont think the 3ds is in production any more so hopefully should come with some low firmware
but i do know the 3ds xl ice white with mario 3d land pre-installed comes with 4.3 firmware
as i bought one a few weeks ago from tescos
this should be ok for a r4i card of some sort
and definatly 3ds titles too....
also dont be fooled that a r4i 3ds will play 3ds games as it wont
the above statement is mostly from what i read online regarding firmwares and r4, r4i, and gatway cards
as i said earlier if you can afford the £119 get the 3ds xl white with mario 3dland installed
as the xl has a 90% bigger screen and comes with firmware 4.3
also make sure wifi is turned off and street pass is disabled
as it could update the console if you are somewhere where there is another 3ds or someones un passworded wifi
hope thats been of some help to you

Just bought this. Thanks OP!

Good price, HEAT
#32
I bought 3ds for my kid and own 2 3DS XL for ourselfs :) For adults XL is far better = bigger screen.
#33
Heat added. I'd be surprised if 3DS drops any lower in price than this in the fire sale prior to the imminent arrival of New 3DS.

I wouldn't get a DSI now. It's an old console and you can't play WiFi games on them anymore. Get the 3DS instead....preferably the XL one. You can still play DS games on the 3DS so it's better value. :-)

it's like the ds dsi thing again. in the end not much difference for the end user. and at this price it's a crazy bargain!

would defo say pay the extra and get the vita, this is a fantastic deal however.

Decided on gong for the 3ds xl deal with Mario for my twins birthday next week. Mrs has had the 3ds since it came out and screen is too small in my opinion, don't want kids to strain there eyes so opted for the xl. R4 3ds cards arrived today so got 300+ games ready for them to chose from ;)
#39
New 3ds is coming out soon and is definitely worth waiting for in my opinion. I have the new 3ds xl (aussie import) and the 3d tracking is amazing - far better than the original 3ds. Having said that, this is a good deal.

good deal
