    They're giving £100 trade in value for a 3DS. Not sure how that's a rip-off.

Cheeky sods! What a joke of an offer

The offers not a joke offer at all. Where can you get more then £100 trade in for a 3ds? As far as upgrading offers go this is the best around.

£100 is quite generous for a used 3DS. Won't get that on eBay etc after all the fees

Good deal for those who want to upgrade to the XL. Heat added

People are asking for an extra circle pad but really how many games uses it? from the top of my head 5 games and 3 of them isn't even released yet. (Monster Hunter 3 G, Monster Hunter 4, Kingdom hearts DDD, Kid Icarus and Resident Evil Revelation). I'm not saying it shouldn't have been included but people just want an extra circle pad for the sake of just being there. As for the pricing, not sure why it's significantly cheaper in the US, does the US price not included their state tax?

Anyway the real problem when trading in your 3DS is wherever they allow you to access their store wifi (if they do have one) and transfer all your personal information and downloaded content to the new 3DS. If not then your only option is to buy the 3DS XL, transfer and hope to sell the 3DS for at least £80 which I highly doubt. I emailed gamestation about this and well...I usually don't get a reply till a week or so. In my case I can only trade it in Gamestation as I happen to have a £32 instore credit for whatever reason. I might give Gamestation a call and ask.

[edit - game.co.uk/en/…201 seem game got that covered?]

Its $199 in US, which means it should be around £130 here. So I refuse to get a 3DS XL for that reason, plus no circle pad, so I'd have to pay for that later and would look even bigger with that on.

We get more tax on it but still doesn't equal up so im with you there

Only idiots are voting this cold. You'd be bloody lucky to get £100 for a pre-owned 3DS so to get £100 of the retail price for a 3DS XL is fantastic.

Shall be doing this when it releases.

I would only do this if game let me transfer my stuff over instore. Otherwise it's pointless as I would lose all my stuff.

That's a little self-entitling don't you think? Higher advertising and localizing costs across the EU; the disparity between USA and UK average wages; VAT included in UK price versus sales tax in America being applied at the till (different between each state); these have to be taken in to account by Nintendo of Europe when setting the price. The real difference once VAT is removed ($199 price tag is before tax) is only about £20/$33 and the factors I've mentioned could easily explain away this difference.

Traded in a 3DS at Game before Vita came out to put deposit on a Vita, just had charger (not even AR cards) and got £130 for it so can't imagine would be any different now.

Not sure why this is cold, this seems like the best deal i've seen so far (as far trade-ins go) seeing as I was going to take my 3DS to Cex and only get about £60 for it. So cheers op!

I'll probably take my iPad along and use that as a wireless hotspot and do the transfer there and then.

Finally got down to my local Game store and they initially refused to honour this deal and wanted me to pay them £20 pre-order fee then bring the 3DS back in on release day - get £100 for the 3DS and then pay them another £79.99 on top for the XL.

Thankfully, I had printed off the relevant part of the Game web site and showed them that this was the offer I wanted and not any current offer. The staff had to speak to the manager and I had to stand my ground that I would only be accepting the offer as advertised on their website and no other. Eventually I got them to agree to honour the trade-in deal - so £20 parted with to pre-order, then a return trip with the 3DS once the XL is released - pay £59.99 and walk out with a new XL & a new charger.

Have to say that the staff (although very pleasant) did not seem to very aware of this deal but am grateful for the foresight of printing out the deal on the web site & sticking to what was advertised otherwise I could've ended up paying another £20 and not getting an adapter.

i got the 3ds xl today, the deal was my white 3ds + charger no box + £100 for 3ds xl,mario & sonic game,a nice mario hard case & official charger. not bad deal.

the console is brilliant, best handheld i bought (i own vita too),the only bad thing is that the 3ds xl speakers are not loud enough they're basically the original 3ds speakers. the dsi xl apeakers are much louder.

Here's the case I got in Game earlier today for £9.99. Its a good solid … Here's the case I got in Game earlier today for £9.99. Its a good solid case with a rubbery interior. Holds everything nicely but is obviously meant for the DS/DSi XL as the cartridge holding area does not accomodate the little sticky out bits the 3DS cartridges do. However as the interior is a hard rubbery material the 3DS cartidges don't go anywhere and don't fall out of the slots (just gave it a good shake and not a sound from the console or cartidges moving inside the case)Link to Amazon

the blue mario case is compatible with 3ds cartridges.

Most of the reviews I have read state that the 3d sweetspot is wider on the xl..

Hey chaps. You can transfer your data if the store has no WiFi. You will have to buy the XL outright, they will give you a receipt confirming a trade in. Take you new XL home, trade data at home, take old 3ds back to the store within the time period and recieve 100 quid refunded to your card you paid with originally. Winner.

Does the 3DS u trade need to be fully boxed? Tempted to keep the dock

Apparently going off what is stated yes it does need to be but when i traded mine in i didn't need to provide one so i said id 'lost'... it then all i needed was to trade in 3DS console, charger and sadly for you the charge cradle or as i think your calling it dock if all else fails and they don't let you trade it in without box just say you will try have another look for it at home then come back with the box and do the deal but if you can keep the box could always sell it to help add that money to become more of a discount off the 3DS XL as what i planned to do.

Well I plan to play KH3D with a Circle pad pro and I play resident evil revelations with it. If I got MGS3D, I'd probably use it for that too. Games with camera control for me, always seem to benefit me there, and I'm sure I'm not along in that respect. And the excuses nintendo made for not including it are ridiculous, "The battery size would be reduced", oh right, 30mins is a big gain right? "It'd be bigger", so now it'll be even bigger if you get the circle pad pro XL for it, and you have to pay more.
Its nice for people who dont want/need another circle pad, but if it was included in the system I dont think anyone would be complaining.
And yes, that is the question that counts, I was going to trade in my 3DS, if trade in price was below £50, but if I couldnt transfer my data, wouldnt be worth it.

You should be used to this by now with any consoles/handhelds, if you adopt early you are bound to lose out, but the ambassador programme wasn't too bad.

I'm guessing GAME will let you use there WiFi to system transfer since they specifically state that you can transfer content, and how to do so on the trade in link.

Typically, neither do I. My 3DS will be the first ever hardware I trade-in/sell. It's just the fact that if I trade in my 3DS I'll be able to spend the money I would save on Kid Icarus, Super Mario 3D Land and put down a pre-order for NSMB2.

My only problem? I'm having trouble deciding on a colour lol. Red, Blue or Gray? I'm thinking of going with the Red... decisions decisions! X)
