Just not worth it for being stuck with 8gig of space. Price is too close to the 32gig models. May as well get one them and buy mario kart yourself.

Surely the Wii U for £160 is the deal here?
#4
Yeah I've just changed the deal to just the console now. If it helps some people out then all's good :)

Not sure why this deal is so cold, it's not amazing but not particularly bad either. The Game Collection deals were cheaper but limited to about 1 per SKU.

This ^^ Got the basic bundle with Mario Kart, 2 Wii Remotes and 3 extra games for £240 from amazon last week. Plugged in an old external HDD and it was fomatted and ready to go in about 2 minutes. Given the Premium e-shop points promotion ends soon, it seems unless you want the console in black, it's not worth paying tje extra for the 20GB extra HD space you get.

The Premium edition Wii U also comes bundled with a recharging cradle for the Gamepad, a stand for the Gamepad and a Wii Remote sensor bar.

Each to their own of course but the convenience factor of the recharging cradle is a huge plus as far as I'm concerned. I also like the fact my Wii U looks tidy in the living room without the extra clutter of needing an external USB HDD alongside it.

Also, I wonder what access times are like when using an external USB HDD with Wii U. The console's internal storage memory is flash memory like on an iPad which is obviously quicker than a HDD. Then factor in that Wii U only has USB 2.0 ports rather than the now standard much faster USB 3.0 ports common to other platforms and I wonder how performance might be negatively impacted.

Very true fella. You could if you have, if not you need to buy one which then adds money on top of what you already spent. No way am i plugging plugging something in which is slower than the internal memory (as stated above) but some poeple dont have the room or want the uglyness of loads of leads and blinky lights everywhere. :-)

32 model suits me fine right now. Got wii fit u, zelda hd, pikmin 3, mario bros u and monster hunter all installed for free on it! Got 3 gig of space left but will probably never fill it!

For the price, this isn't really that bad.

Add another £17.00 here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sandisk-64gb-cruzer-fit-usb-flash-drive-for-16-99-memorybits-1916485 and you've got yourself a 72Gb WiiU

I can't see why this is so cold?!?
easily upgradable for more memory and the charging cradle is available for £5 on Amazon. unless you really want a black one than you can get a Wii U and MK 8 for under £200.

Differences besides basic and premium aside (premium is good if you want lots of eShop games, not for the slight extra hard drive space but for the download rebate promotion https://p.nintendo.net/ but that comes to an end soon) the fact that for £40 more you can get 2 Wii Remote plus and 3 games via that Just Dance Basic bundle at Amazon (and have been able to do so for what feels like decades) is what makes it cold.

Its all fun and games until the flash stick decides to die and you have to redownload everything at best or lose all your saves at worst (more saves to internal memory to avoid this issue). Hard drives are much more suited to continuous use.

Just because it's internal doesn't mean it's immune to failure. It's just flash memory after all and something as simple a power surge can kill a drive (flash or hard), especially if it's being written to

Hard drives are much more suited to continuous use.

Continuous use, perhaps. Storage reliability has gone up considerably over the last years but whether it's a hard drive or flash drive. That being said, and I can only speak from my experience but I've only ever used branded storage and I've had more hard drives die on me than Flash drives. If they die, it's cheap to replace. If the internal memory dies, it'll not be cheap to replace.

excellent deal this I was going to post it myself but clearly it's already shared. This together with the 10.95 per game deal currently available here is a great way to become a Wii U owner

should be steaming in here

I wouldn't buy those codes, Nintendo has been cancelling games because of code abuse without warning.

I've read the reports I'd say at the most 2% of buyers have been affected, if that. Scaremongering

It's a bit more likely with a code that's been sold separately from a game. If the game owner & code owner both register their codes, both will be cancelled. That's not scaremongering, that's common sense.

that's a good point I'm surprised Ebay is allowing the sale of the codes if it's illegal, possible grey area? most people aren't having problems I think it will stay that way

the fact that the code is even able to be used without the matching game in the drive should be evidence in itself that it's 'allowed'

interesting stuff

I think the seller is a bit dodgy & would personally avoid it. Most of the games are in the 15 - 20 pound range, I would buy a physical copy & play it safe!
