The new Nintendo DSi XL is available in both colours for only £137.85 instore and online.

After wandering around Bluewater and comparing that to the deals other shops were offering I thought that was pretty good!

I got to play with the demo one they had, the difference between it and my DS lite were amazing, I don't normally do this but i'm going to sell my black DS Lite and get one of these.

I am aware these are £135 in Asda but you can order these online from John Lewis and I also like the service I receive there if there are any problems :)

Looks HOT to me

....any vouchers for online?
banned#2
this is a good deal but how many version of ds are they going to make
#3
As of right now I'm holding off just to see if the DS2, which will probably be announced later this year, will receive backwards compatibility. Considering the DS2 is rumored to have a similar screen size to this version, that would be a better deal.

If it doesn't, then maybe this DS will have dropped in price even further.

If you can't wait it's a solid price though. Have some heat.

Cheers :-)

I can't get the voucher selection working for me but anyone does find any vouchers i'll credit them in my opening post

..Now to get rid of my beloved DS lite lol!

I think you will be waiting a while, While i agree a DS2 is in development and prolly ready for launch tomorrow, I doubt Nintendo will release a DS2 until they feel a need too, there is currently no competition save the PSP and iPhone, the DS is slaughtering both in the hand-held games market so until Apple or Sony brings something better along I doubt we will see a DS2 announcement this side of 2010.

That said maybe Sony will announce a PSP2 at E3 but im doubting it with their focus on the PS Move (and Sub controller) Apple will have the iPad as this years PR marketing rubbish and I doubt OS4.0 will add anything gaming wise, unless the iPhone 4G adds something new or Pippin 2 comes along lol.

As for backwards compatibility i very much doubt ninty will not have it, but i may be wrong as i reckon Nintendo`s next console will have a very fierce anti piracy and as such they may change the media storage to fit, maybe having 2 slots like the DS did with GBA carts.

Still i would like to see a new DS this year just doubtful.

just paid 150 as I wanted one for the missus for mothers day. Not like me not to shop around! voted hot

I called JL few days ago and told them ASDA are doing it for £135. I got a letter 2 days later saying they will price match.
#10
Good price and good backup from JL.

As for the DS2 replacing this it's more likely they will both run in tandem. I expect the this to drop to £99 for xmas and the DS2 to be round the £200 and aimed at a different market. Not sure it will do that well though as its looking like it's going to have onboard storage so the days of free gaming will be gone.

Every year a new generation joins the hobby. I think it's great these new gamers can buy a product that doesn't look too dated against all the other tech out there. Well done Nintendo for improving the ergonomics slightly and including extra software ( which is additional hours keeping the kids busy) And now new gamers have the choice bigger screens still. Great stuff.

Personally i've never had any issues with Asda on things like this. As long as you keep the receipt they have replaced no issues.

Coupled by the fact that they are £135 in store and online, cant really be faulted on either deal really!

can you use r4 carts on these ?

can you use r4 carts on these ?

No, you need a M3 Zero which works fine.
#16
WESELLR4CARDS
Yes you can. Infact you can use any as long as they (the firecards) will work on firmware 1.4.

Not all cards play all the latest games - though there are a couple of exceptions.

Better change your username to 'wesellFAKEr4cards' as R4 went defunct ages ago and there's no official support for them......
#17
Just be sure that you dont get one with a yellow tint to the bottom screen, otherwise exchange it. :p
#18
Actually only £135 instore and even better if you get discount only £119
#19
Bit annoyed with Nintendo for doing this tbh, bought my little girl the DSI for christmas, and now they go and launch this. Bit rude in my opinion.

Hot deal though.

i paid £130 from marshall ward with a code great deal!

Considering they are now illegal and the last guy got a 1 year jail sentence for importing them....then No.....
Twenty six and a half thousand cards is a lot of importing! I'd bet he'd have gotten 'under the radar' if he hadn't been as greedy. However, this is being clamped down on very heavily. It seems even Dealextreme has stopped selling Flash Carts.

This console is still a better deal at Asda and their returns policy is excellent too.

Anyway, does anyone know of a nice leather case for the DSi XL? I've seen the 'Blue Ocean' one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blue-Ocean-Accessories-Leather-Case/dp/B00352M8I2 but it's not got great reviews and you have to remove the console to play it. Anyone know if Venom have one in the offing? They do a great 'Flip and Play' leather one for the normal size DSi.

Thanks for the heat everyone. Does anybody know how to earn 'reputation' for this deal as I have none?

I'm debating buying this now and then selling my DS lite or just wait till I sell my DS, decisions decisions!

Game are offering £75 off if exchanging your old DS. Worth considering as an alternative.

Certainly is Stanley! :-D I can't see you getting 75 quid for your old DS Lite anywhere else zenithbliss.

As for 'reputation', the users decide if you're worth it and vote accordingly by clicking on that little white icon to the left of your avatar.

wasn't that dsi trade in and not dslite?
either way these are not worth twice the price of a dslite :)
#28
Deal Extreme are selling the cards still they just don't show up on their site you have to search by product code Google is your friend

Bought mine from Shopto.Net for £135 and i am using a ttdsi card no problems these are much better in my opinion with having the large screen as well as playing games but watching films.

My son wanted a normal DS for his birthday, but I'm wondering whether to buy this one. He wanted it to play games wih his brother's DS's. Is this compatible with the normal DS?

Yes they are compatible. My son has a DS LIte and a DSi Xl now. We play against each other on games that allow it. And the games can be used in both consoles.
