Maybe they are, just it was advertised with 2 free games so didn't realise.

They are, still a decent price as most places seem to be at £159.99
#5
Yep got mine from Asda with those two `games' for £135
#6
personally think its very sneaky of toysrus to advertise it this way-they make it appear THEY are giving 2 free games.

Agreed, and 'A little bit of Brain Training' is basically a short demo of the 'Brain Training' games, while 'Dictionary 6 in ' is just an application, not a game. Very misleading advertising.

Do Nintendo still give you 1000 points for free, to spend at the Nintendo DsiWare store, when you purchase a DSi now?
#8
I got the 1000 points but this was the first time i've signed into the DSi store.

It's more like going from 32" to 48". Screens are 93% bigger and the console is like a brick. Which I love ;-)

I agree with the above comments about Toy-r-us underhand, misleading claims of 2 free games. First of all, all XL's have these included and secondly Dictionary 6-1 isn't a game.. It's more a translator. Although I can't imagine lugging an XL about during my holiday in France.

Yep I agree with the Toyrus underhand claim too. The games are 'built-in' to the DSi XL. So there is nothing they are giving away. You would get those games wherever you bought your DSi XL.

As for 'Dictionary 6 in 1'.... it isn't actually a 'dictionary'! It's a 'Translator'. You type, write or indeed 'photograph' a word (the DSi XL then tries to recognise the word), and the DSi XL gives you your word and about 4 or 5 other forms of the word in other languages such as French, German, Spanish even Japanese!

My son got the Dark Brown one, it is a really nice colour. I never thought I'd say that about 'brown'! Oh and we got it from Asda too for £135 but as I've mentioned in the Asda thread ( http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/625559/nintendo-dsi-xl-only-135-instore-as ), Comet were quite willing to price match with Asda. So it's a cold one from me I'm afraid kramvic!

I couldn't see the casing in comet as it was open, but the outer edge looked more gold coloured?? is that just the edging or is that the outer colour?
I have seen the inside, as thats the way it was displayed...

I liked the look of it tbh...

been telling my son he dosent need one :( as he was all set to buy it with his savings, I'm wavering now after seeing it LOL...

are the internals upgraded at all? and does it ship with 1.4?
any compatability isues with acekard ? R4 etc that anyone knows of?

Thanks

It ships with 1.4 and as far as I know R4 will only work on 1.4 firmware (like the DSi)

Yes, the bottom outer case is gold, the top outer and the inside are brown.

Yes like the DSi the internals are upgraded with more memory, a faster processor and better sound but at the moment there's no games available that use these extra capabilities.

As for acekard & R4, as far as I know the DSi and DSiXL are not compatible with these. Don't they use the GBA slot? This was removed in the DSi.
#15
R4i should work and no they don't use the GBA slot
#16
Why have they made it bigger? That's just gonna make its crap graphics look even worse!
#17
Zuulan

If you mean the Acekard and R4 'specifically' then you are correct Zuulan. However, if you mean all Acekard and/or R4 cards then you're behind the times. The Acekard 2i, R4i Gold and others definitely do work with the DSi and/or DSi XL. There 'was' a problem with the 1.4 firmware but the 'Danny Phantom' fix got round that. See youtube for loads of info on how to do the 'Danny Phantom' work around.
#18
Thanks for that.... In that case(gold) I thought it looked Mint....

and yeah obviously i did mean ACEKARD2i sorry.. it was late ;-)

I'll have a look at the Danny thing, but I suspect its the 'updating file you need to do with an older ds lite?

So we've allready done it :)

So whats youre verdict on the graphics Blasphemous?

I wouldn't it had a detrimental effect as they are not that sort of graphics anyway....
#19
Yep, the graphic are absolutely fine.
