Reading the reviews these rather quirky speakers are a real good build quality and perform very well. Hopefully someone out there will confirm.

Solid wood woofer cabinet and 2 satellites, an I/R remote control and cables. Also I think the large base plate comes with it as a platform for the woofer with the Wii itself.

Definitely not to everyone's taste as the satellite speakers are designed to look like Wii nuncuck controllers (???) but if you have your Wii on display (aka pride of place) then this just might complement it.

Apparently £70 ish when released which when you look at close up images supports the quality in the design and build.

Not for me as I have some surrounds already but I hope that someone benefits.

Happy buying!

Here is the one review on Play by the way.

MUST HAVE!!!

This is essential for anyone whom doesn't already have surround sound, I would never go back to using the tv speakers again. The actual RRP of these speakers is 69.99 not the 29.99 shown here - just to give you an idea of how much of a bargain this is and also to give you an idea that this is not some cheap rubbish. The main subwoofer is well built and actually suprisingly (and reassurringly) heavy, it delivers deep bass without any vibration. The satalite speakers deliver the surround sound perfectly, with a rich clarity. The system comes packaged with a remote - which is a replica of the Wii remote - this lets you adjust volume, bass, treble, and the ability to switch between 3D surround, loud and normal. I found that the normal setting is perfect but it's worth playing around to find your own preference. It's also worth picking yourself up a Wii component cable to maximise the visual quality too as this cable is compatable with the speakers. It's worth noting that the system is officially licensed by Nintendo whichis usually a good indication of quality. The system is well built and has the same colour and quality as the Wii itself.

Here's a better image

(note its built by '4gamers' but apparently got the Nintendo licence sticker or something along those lines. It looks pretty accurate design wise.
God I'm bored!. Stuck at home recovering a spine op.
Anyone want me to find them any particular bargains? Someone fetch me a Starbucks?

Seem ok but I'd strongly recommend against them. A set of Logitech X-210's would perform a lot better.

Thanks for your comment. So that other readers can understand what is bad about these can you please explain what evidence is behind your claim that the Logitechs will be a lot better? The reason I ask is that you said they 'seem ok' which suggests to me that you might not have actually heard how these perform.

No I have not heard their performance. But you can clearly see the size of the actual speaker on the satellites are very small, indicating poor performance. The Logitechs have a larger diameter speaker = better sound.

The review isn't credible, they talk about "surround sound", you cannot get surround sound without rear speakers. A "3D" setting just messes with the sound to make it sound more spacious but all it's doing is degrading the quality.

Large speaker = better sound? That's not really how speakers work. The smaller the speaker cone the better its ability to naturally resonate at a very high frequency without distortion(i.e. dome tweeters). These are there for that purpose and are supported by a chunky sub woofer. The fact is that the larger coned satellites will give you a better natural mid range without distortion but would struggle under load to give un-distorted higher pitch sound unless heavily driven by a decent amplifier. Even then in this price range they are unlikley to be of sufficient quality to make that much difference.

The review isn't credible because of the surrund sound claim? Its a surround sound effect that many 2.1 systems lay claims to. Its often called pseudo surround. In essence its creating delays of certain frequencies typically high pitch to give the impression of reflected sound. No they are not surround per se but for 15.99 what do you expect. Plus with the surround off they still have 30W RMS 2.1 stereo which is pretty good. Also its not necessarily degrading the sound, its delaying certain frequencies through extra circuits but we're not talking audiophile here are we?

My point with your review was that its a bit of an aggressive leap to say that you strongly recommend against them. If the woofer cabinet were entirely plastic and the system had PMPO 15 Watts well I'd understand, but from a couple of 3rd party tech site reviews I read earlier these perform at max chat without any distortion and they do it very well. That to me is quite impressive. Go and have a read and se what you think, they might look a bit gay but they appear to have the minerals!!

These look great - have some heat!

Well hey, if people want to buy them, fine. But go on any hi fi related website (avforums/whathifi) and thye'll be ripped to shreads. They are plasticy, the speakers are far too small and yes while small speakers sound better doing the high notes, there is nothing in this kit which is good for midrange which is what most of TV is, speaking.

They are plasticy? What are the Logitech satellites made of then? I think you ought to let people who have used these do the talking. I haven't no, but I have pointed to a positive review. You show me where these are 'ripped to shreds' and I'll concede. Otherwise what is the point of slating something you know nothing about. That's like me saying Lindt chocolate tastes like **** when I've never tasted it.:?

The following review provides a decent summary of these when they were at £69.99. The full review from Reghardware is linked below too :)

Well personally I'd rather get speakers that have many hundreds of positive reviews (ie the Logitechs) over a seemingly unknown brand whose speakers are not their primary product.

Obviously some people will see this and like it, so hope they like it. If people are wanting to upgrade the sound from their TV and serious about it, should spend a little more and get something thats been proven to perform very well.

edit: hope you enjoy all these free bumps :)

Out of interest what connectors do the 230s have? They do get very god reviews and I would like to upgrade my mum's TV for her. flat panels what ever the brand seem to have pants sound. I'm hoping the 230s have a phono connectors (red and white connectors). You should post a deal on them they are only £30 on some sites at present.

ive got this system for the kids wii in their bedroom. before i set it up, i decided to connect it to my bedroom tv to get 'surround sound' the sound is not too bad, but there is alot of feedback which is just to annoying.

Unless the TV can control the sound volume through phonos, stick to the headphone port. I have a pair of 2.1 speakers connected to a Samsung TV by the headphone port and it sounds very nice.

these are the worst objects ever created my humankind - the small plastic speakers are terrible and sound like a baby crying.

Having said that I've never listened to them or even seen them in person.

In any case, COLD! :whistling:

I must say, the styling looks pretty fantastic, and goes perfectly in that stand with the console!

And with regards to what was said before about the size of the speakers, bigger isn't always better...

Can someone give me some basic technical advice please (rep will be left of course). I hook the Wii up to a projector and so get very little sound coming out. If I bought this system would it give me sound ie does the red and white cables from the Wii go into this system, without me having to input them into and tv and then output them into a sound system.

I know it sounds a stupid question, but I don't want to order and find out it doesn't work, as I hate the hastle of returning things online

Any help much appreciated

Here is the quick set up guide that comes with the speakers:

P.S it works with if you use either composite or component cables (as it just needs the red and white connectors) and it comes with the cable extension seem in the diagram (though its probably online 0.5metres long).
