I don't think it will charge the 3DS as, even though the charger is the same size, it's in a different place on the back. The 3DS would have to hang out of the side a lot in order to charge. (sorry I can't be more descriptive but I hope it answered your question)

But back to the item. Thanks for letting me know. My friends birthday is soon and this is perfect for the Pokemon obsessed geek in her. ^_^ heat added from me.
