Posted this a minute ago as a general announcement but was told I actually need to link to a product for it to go live. I've linked to the one that I've ordered, I've used Orzly before on my phone and they're generally good quality.

--

Seen tons of posts and videos online of people moaning about their screen being scratched whilst taking the tablet in and out of the dock. I decided to take a chance and leave mine naked and awesome.

Within a days of (light) usage it already has a scratch on the bezel! I'm not impressed with the design Nintendo has implemented here! The console itself is pretty decent and I'm enjoying it other than this.

I've gone Tempered Glass as it's easier to put on and I've seen stories of the films ones peeling off under the heat! I went with Orzly has I've used them before, they're a decent price, you get two in the pack and they're currently listed as a Best Seller on Amazon UK!

I agree fully.

I sent my Switch back though and am getting a full refund. I bought Bomberman, Zelda and 1 2 switch.

1 2 switch is a joke of a game.

Bomberman is meh which is a shame as I love Bomberman. The camera angles are weird and it is a very lazy bare bones game.

I did not get much time with Zelda but decided to wait for the GOTY edition which will have the season pass content too and also waiting for a revised Switch XL or whatever hardware revision it will get.

Fantastic piece of kit which is hampered by poor build quality, poor software, bad battery and expensive accessories.

How is it fantastic when you list so many cons it lacks games horrible build quality and on par with the ps3, nintendo has no soul anymore, guess this is punishment for people not buying the gamecube.

As an idea it is amazing, I don't see this it as a home console but a successor to the 3DS. The 3DS Xl I have is such good value for money with excellent battery, library of games and build quality. Switch is superior but needs a revision, more games and better battery to dethrone the king of handheld gaming.

This has actually gone up in price as I bought on Monday for £7.79. Hopefully they'll reduce again soon.

I ordered these a few weeks ago and they took payment right after the order (even though they're still not out yet) and it's been 'Preparing for dispatch' ever since. So, just a heads up for anyone ordering.
The screen protector that came with the official case has been on mine since launch and it's doing fine so far, until this one finally arrives.

Not sure Zelda will have GOTY edition as MK8 never had one despite its Season Pass/2 DLC's

The Mario Kart 8 GOTY edition is being released on the Switch X)

So you'll just need to wait for the Switch 2, for the Zelda GOTY.

You should complain. I ordered a pair of these on Saturday, they were dispatched on Monday.

Didn't realise the switch had a plastic screen, shame on you Nintendo, where is the Gorilla glass? How much more would've it added to the cost?

Glad I flipped my day one grey edition now.

Have to say I'm loving mine, now 40 hours into BOTW and I'm nowhere near done. I've had no problems with screen scratches, joycon disconnects or anything of the sort. No problems with build quality on my unit, seems very solid. All systems launch with issues, the ps4 and Xbox one where the same. My ps4 was DOA, the 2nd one had a faulty HDMI port and had to be sent off for repair after 11 weeks use. There are always going to be teething problems with new hardware.

Managed to cancel my order for the Switch at the last minute after seeing all the initial problems, i still very much want to play Zelda and that new Mario, but i am just gonna wait for the next hardware revision to purchase one (hopefully they fix the problems on that later model).

Lol, Zelda GoTY edition? Very, very unlikely. This is Nintendo, not every western publisher, ever

Maybe right but MK8 being re-released as essentially GOTy edition for Switch.

Not a great deal unfortunately as this has gone up in price. Also make sure you note the delivery times - they're not especially quick from this seller.

I got my Neon Switch on launch day and I've also put around 40 hours into Zelda. The build quality is great. No problems with de-synching joy-cons, dock scratching the screen, connectivity problems etc etc to report here. It all works and handles as it should. And Zelda - man WHAT A GAME! Just superb!

^^ I see all these complaints about dead pixels and joy-cons dy-syncing but if either of these have happened to me, I haven't noticed

They didn't use Gorilla glass because it can shatter when dropped(and plastic is cheaper no doubt). The Switch was intended to be a kids device as well, and they'll likely drop it a lot. Plastic is less likely to break when dropped.

The downside is it scratches easy. Which don't get me wrong, sucks. However I can totally see why they made the choice that they did. Especially considering the main reason Gorilla glass is used on phones is because people put them in their pockets near keys and other things which could scratch the screen. You aren't going to be doing that with the switch.

Rubbish, at the height need to shatter 4, if you can, the LCD will be messed up and good knows what else.

Just Nintendo being cheap.

Please, don't give me crap. If Gorilla glass was so solid, why does Samsung and other phone companies use plastic in their "Active" models.

There's a valid reason for the plastic screen whether you admit it or not. You aren't the only target audience.

I love my Switch, Zelda is a really good game and will keep me going long enough until Mario Kart is out, and then i also have the PS4 and PC to fall back onto lol.

It's a shame it went cold, as it looks like a good product and price. I think it was only because there was no mention of 'Premium Tempered Glass' in the title before, so people would have quickly assumed it was the usual plastic/film type.

For what it's worth I added heat! Thanks for posting, if it helps someone buy it - that's all that matters. :)

Grabbed a Switch last night. Saw all the launch woes, but honestly seems a lot smoother than most other console launches I've endured. Build quality seems pretty great, and the Joy Cons feel pretty good for multiplayer.

Not saying everyone should rush out and buy one (I was gonna wait till Christmas but the frame drops in Zelda Wii U annoyed me) but it's nowhere near 360 levels of problems yet.

Ordered this on 20th jan. "Dispatched" 20th feb. Delivery estimate is 14th-16th Match. Spoke to G-Hub who are just fobbing me off basically. If I ordered one yesterday the delivery estimate would be sooner than my order from 20th Jan which makes zero sense.

That said I've been loving my Switch. No issues with any scratches and I've docked / undocked plenty of times. It's an awesome console restoring a much needed fun injection. Helps that Zelda is incredible too.
#29
I have yet to have any screen problems with my switch either, I had the left joycon fail on me on day one but it was resolved with a resync, in fact I have found the build quality to be really good, my only issue is the lack of games but BOTW is an incredible game and worthy of it's incredible reviews.

I mean if a kid is using it they'll likely be dropping it a lot over time, on increasingly strong surfaces such as concrete or hard tiling.

In that case, yeah plastic is better. Rather that than having an heart attack every time you drop it, worrying that the screen has cracked.

And no, it isn't just dropping it from high places. Tell that to everyone who goes into repair shops because they cracked their screen doing various things.

It was designed around kids using it, not adults, get over it.

Ive had mine since Sat as GAME were late shipping my order! Never ordering ANYTHING from them again. Loving Zelda, I have unfortunately found a 1cm scratch on the SCREEN on Monday!!!. (I have only un-docked the console 2-3 times) I could go mad.....Screen protector is a must! Just annoyed that I have to shell out another £10 for something that should have came in the box. At the end of the day, it's the dock thats causing this issue!

Yeah, the dock seems really poorly designed. I can't believe they didn't catch it in testing really. Mind you I think the Switch launch seems a bit rushed personally anyway.

I saw an image of one person who literally just sawed the side off to get rid of what's scratching the screen, lol. One solution to the useless design.
#40
Yeah its totally been rushed as the Wii U failed! I wish they had just made a regular console with Current gen graphics like the PS4....Imagine Zelda with Horizon type graphics! Would defo sell more than what the Switch is going to sell overall!...........
