Slightly off-topic so apologies. But I had a hands on experience with the Switch at a pre-launch event in Birmingham on Sunday including 30 minutes on Zelda BOTW. The machine is pricey but very well put together. The screen is very nice and the Joycons are brilliant as is the Pro controller. And what can I say about Zelda BOTW other than it is mind blowing. I for one cannot wait to get my hands on it!

@ magicjay. I can honestly say that you will be very impressed with the build quality. It's like an Apple product in this respect.
They'll still be the Nintendo price police parading around with their sub £200 banners. Recording it on their £700 Iphones..... Awkward.

This thread highlights precisely the problem with modern gaming. There is an obsession of graphical power over gameplay. I tend to buy all if not most consoles each generation (although I haven't had a Xbox for a while as I have a gaming PC and find that with Ps4 enough).

There is something magical about Nintendo games and I maybe I am being too nostalgic but I personally want the Nintendo experience when I play a Zelda or a Mario. The experience and gameplay is infinitely more important with these games than let's throw out over the top visuals. Nintendo games are not like "real life" games whereby you need to see each eye lash and the eye mucus. They are cell style textures.

In my opinion :D

I think Mathaeus meant with a picture of the controller itself. Will help illustrate what can be purchased. Good luck :)

On this site you have to fight off the Nintendo Switch price haters first. They feel because Nintendo didn't price it sub £200 they will boycott the franchise.

The Switch is very divisive on here, lot's of people are of the opinion it's overpriced in general and the accessories especially so that's why the cold votes. Don't take it personally, some of us do appreciate the effort :)

Welcome to the world of posting on hukd.

In time your skin will harden from the blows dished out by switch haters and you will become strong. I have seen it written.

+ heat.

I'm cool. Just thought this is a good deal as most places selling at 65. Looks quite a good piece of kit.

Why do people take down voting so personally!? Just feel good that you're helping some rather then crying because people aren't singing your praises

Well, someone just got themselves an invite to come work in my dungeon. Sent over a pm.

Thanks for sharing - seems to be the best price right now so heat from me :)

Thanks OP for this! Ignore the clowns voting cold as this is the cheapest.

Is there a link to the T&Cs? Zavvi don't generally allow codes to be used on preorder, so might not be fulfilled. Great price if they honour though

Breath of the Wild, Joycons or Pro? Have you played much Zelda before and which method did you prefer?

As the days go on i'm reading more and more publications say it isn't until you've been hands on with the Switch can you only then appreciate how good it is (or how good it could be). Maybe people cant shake the rather cheap and plastic feel of the Wii U.

Hi hotmep. The Zelda demo was running using the pro controller and it is an excellent controller. I played Splatoon2 using the Joycons in the grip and again they were very good. Arms was played with a Joycons in each hand and the motion controls were outstanding. Mario Kart was set up with the Joycons attached to the switch in handheld mode and felt very good too. The switch handled brilliantly in all three modes: hand held, table top and TV and I was very impressed with its versatility and build quality. I have ordered a pro controller as the Switch docked in TV mode with a Pro is probably the best way to play Zelda BOTW but the Joycons in the grip would be almost as good.

interesting, considering how good (some) nintendo contollers of prev consoles have been I though it looks pretty meh and a little flabby ergonomically. It seems in keeping with other associated bits just kinda wish they'd pushed it a little. Need to hold and use one.

Great deal, thanks for saving me money. £2 more expensive than my PS4 anniversary controller. Much appreciated.

I agree the hysteria about the pricing is getting tiresome. For sure the Switch and accessories are expensive and I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't prefer them to be cheaper. But when you consider how expensive some new tech is, like phones and laptops, then the Switch is not crazily overpriced considering how much tech has been squeezed into this tiny and well engineered package. Those Joycons are something else. Believe.

It didn't help that rumours were swirling of a sub £200 price for quite some time and it was picked up by a lot of sites. When you look at the fact that it is a handheld and also a home console then you factor in the price then the price makes sense. Look at the 3DSXL at £179..this console with the Joy Cons etc, it was never going to be £199 or whatever that rumour was.

My logic exactly but people need to be realistic. In comparison to the Wii U and New 3ds XL prices it's a great price point for a new machine. Mine is pre ordered and I have no complaints over the price.

I'm not really bothered about the Switch until I see a Metroid somewhere, but good luck to them anyways. Good price tho, heat added. Grew up Nintendo, so is nice to see they're still trying.

I wanted another 3D Mario but like Galaxy and not 3D World...then came Mario Odyssey. So, fingers crossed for Metroid!

It's probably extra shameful to actually preorder a console to add to your pile of shame, right? I'll wait for Metroid news I guess :)

cold, the price compared to a new ps4 or a new xb1 controller makes this overpriced.

Is the pro controller worth the purchase or is the Joycon grip serviceable enough for Zelda?

Hi lazybeat
The joycons slotted into the grip will be just fine for Zelda. No need to buy the Pro if on a budget. The pro is a very good quality traditional style controller (a lot like the XB1) but not necessary to buy for Zelda. I would say that the Pro buttons are a little larger so might be better for those with larger hands.
