Argos are selling Nintendo wii's for £132.97 on manager's special instore at their Stretford branch in Manchester. I reckon this must be as a result of the price increase in the new catalogue & possible product number change, this is just my theory though and purely speculation. If this is the case though, i reckon this will be found in other branches of Argos also, worth having a look in your local Argos if you're after one! Happy hunting

Stretford wasnt in the earlier post, and the search system on here is worse than death.

I was pointing out the other stores that also have them in stock at the bottom of that thread

These are returns/refurbs.

They have been doing this since the Wii was launched.

Got mine when they first came out for £159

Great deal, but if you go and get one make sure you get it outta the box and have a look, I checked 4 when I went to get mine, 3 were pretty banged up and well used the fourth was mint.

Check the controllers for wear, check the Wii Sports disc to see if its scratched, check the rubber feet to see if its been moved around alot, these should give you an idea of how long they were used before return.

Most of these are returns due to duplicated gifts, some are repairs such as controller failure or powersupply failures or something more serious, anything serious will have been back to Nintendo for refurb.

They still come with the 12 month warranty.

Most stores do no list them in their online stock, you need to go in and ask or call.

And they are passing them off as NEW?? Surely that can't be right :?

Just to clarify!

Manager's specials will not be available in every store, it depends entirely on what the stock manager has ordered in to the specific store.

The company definition of a manager's special is either the product is ex-display or has been returned through Argos Direct. Since you cannot return games consoles under the 30 day money back guarantee unless they're faulty it should be assumed that these wii consoles are refurbished or ex display. Although sometimes the price can be reduced just because of damaged packaging!

On the price ticket their should be a disclaimer stating this and it should be explained to you when you make the purchase, so no store should be passing them off as new.

All manager's special deals DO come with the 12 month guarantee and the procedure is the same as with a brand new wii

Faulty within 30 days - Refund/Replacement

Faulthy over 30 days but under 1 year - Item sent for repair (Although managers do have discretion when it comes to this and I personally wouldn't send it for repair before about 4/5 months of use. Please don't have a go at customer service desk staff if their managers don't think the same - they won't be able to change it unfortunately :( )

Hope this answers a few questions! :)

They're not passing them off as new. I was told they were returns but were all in full working order with all accessories, I was told to read the notice regarding manager's specials ie cannot be returned unless faulty

I went into Argos Extra in Sheffield today and managed to get the only wii (Manager's Special) for £132. I checked the console over and was told it had been bought by Argos as a gift but never used. None of the contents had been opened and all were brand new. Heat and Rep.

I bought one of these 2 weeks ago a Ilford's store and it's ok. It's a good idea to look in the box even more if getting for the kids at xmas. Don't want to be a bad parent on xmas morning ;-)
