I could, they have gone.

I beleive they went before the poster even posted. (I saw it on another forum at 3.02 and were sold when I looked)

I am noticing more and more retailers not mentioning wii sports in the product description. My understanding was Wii Sports was part of the official retail package, so why are so many stores not including Wii Sports?

I went to a number of stores this morning and called them before hand. On the phone all of them said they could not reserve so its first come first serve. I made a point of asking if any customers were already waiting in store for wii and they all said no. Once I had got there they advised me that they are still awaiting delivery but no point in waiting because they have be "ticketed", meaning they had been reserved for people!!!!

Completed wasted my time as on the phone they said it was not possible to reserve and yet when I get there ALL have been reserved! Lying gits! :x

I recon HQ have advised stores that they are not allowed to reserve which is why I was lied to on the phone as I could of been a test shopped, but the managers have taken it upon themselves to reserve for people visiting the store in order to stop a massive queue building.
#12
Did you reserve one then Dupfold?

Scant consolation after your wasted journey but the distinct impression that I get from reading these and other boards is that in recent days stock has been arriving more frequently and in larger quantities. I'm sure it won't be too long before you and anyone else that's waiting for one will get one. In the meantime good luck!
#13
Just tried again and I was able to order!!!!!

Quick get in!!!!

Whole load of bundles showing as in stock
#14
Why has somebody labelled this expired, there are loads.

I don't understand why people are going crazy about having a wii :-)

#17
ohh...assume made an ASS of U and ME....that's what my teacher used to say!

I had my order cancelled - however this was because I used a card I didn't realise i'd maxed it out  better make some payments off it!

Managed to get an order in on play though (with another card) so fingers crossed!
#19
On 2nd thoughts, it might not have Wii Sports, which in that case it goes back, hhaha
#20
Pretty sure all Wiis come with Wii Sports as standard.
#21
I've just ordered mine as well. GAME have a 28 day return policy, so if they don't have Wii Sports, just send it back

No wasn't allowed to reserve one, thats the thing, I visited the store yesterday and spoke again on the phone today and each time was advised they would not reserve, soon as I got there was told "sorry there all reserved"?!
#25
Just ordered mine.
I assume it will have wii sports as they come in the stand package don't they?

Even if it does not, still have the option of returning it.

Wii Sports is in the box. There's no markings saying with wii sports, but it's part of the main packing! There's a little space for it. There's no way nintendo make the console with and without it
#27
Just bought one, cheers

First post, but been watching these Wii threads for weeks now as had a Wii on order with PC World for 2 months. Of such I have been looking around for a Wii now to save the wait. I ordered one on Virgin Megastores on Friday and it *DEFINATLY* did not come with Wii Sports - Was the first time I had ever heard of a Wii without Wii Sports. I spoke to customer services and the Game manager who both confirmed it - so I hastly cancelled my order. From looking at the orders on GAME, I am assuming exactly the same thing. Be careful it does not have to come with Wii Sports ANYMORE. Don't know why??? Nintendo what are you doing to us - no one wants to buy it without Wii Sports!!

Again this was the link that found me the deals first:

Yeah I do NOT want a Wii without Wii Sports. I am not prepared to pay for it seperately when it is supposed to be included in the retail package. I am still waiting for a reply from Nintendo about this issue. I contacted them on Monday to find out if it is legal to sell the console without Wii Sports.

If they are being shipped without Wii Sports then it is legal and something that Nintendo have introduced as if you take a look at the actual packaging of the Wii the Wii Sports logo looks like a sticker but it is in fact part of the box.

In conclusion a retailer cannot simply remove wii sports and the sticker.

Having said that I really can't see why they would shoot themselves in the foot in such a way.

I have just spoken to Game, and they said all their Wii's come with Wii sports

I suspect what is happening is there is more than one Wii package available to retailers as follows:

1. Official Wii Retail Pack - Wii+Wii Remote+Wii Nunchuck+Wii Sports with the official RRP of £179.99

2. Wii Hardware Pack - Wii + Wii Remote + Wii Nunchuck with no RRP.

This is what I believe is the case although I have yet to receive my confirmation from Nintendo.

I suspect that a lot of retailers are taking advantage of the non RRP on the Hardware Pack (It was advertised on Virgin Megastore as Hardware Package)and charging the same price as the official retail pack and taking advantage of people who think it is the package with Wii Sports given the price and the TV advertising campaign.

Why do I think they are deliberately misleading people? Because not a single site that has been reported as selling the Wii without Wii Sports have put any details about Wii Sports in the product description. I think they should state in the product description that the product they are selling does NOT come with Wii Sports and I will be getting in touch with the OFT later this week if I hear from Nintendo in time.

I agree! It's just mis-leading otherwise. Especially with the speed that they sell - you don't have the chance to check.

It's like:

-Oh look link for a Wii in stock, quickly click it.
-where's the add to basket button!!!
-found it, oh wait sites slow because everyone else has found it now! DARN
-at last it's in MY basket
-login
-and pay!
-then check details of what I just bought

Well said Paladine, keep us informed on what OFT say if indeed you contact them.
