Just been in John Lewis and the price of the Nintendo Wii console with Wii Sports has gone down to £145 like the man told me yesterday, to match Asda - the ticket shows this price so automatically goes through till.

Also they'll price match the Wii Play offer that Asda are doing on buying the Nintendo Wii console (inc Wii Sports) plus Wii Play (which includes a remote) for £155 - i.e. £10 for the Wii Play when you buy the console at the same time.

Hope this helps someone who has missed out at Asda or doesn't live near one!

how do you prove the wii play at £10?

His description is badly written, he means you can get it for £10 ONLY if you buy the console.

Good deal if you can get it

I get that you have to buy the wii at the same time, but how do you prove that asda are currently pricing up the combo wrong - will they phone through and check?

The wii console/fit combo is common knowledge - it's been all over the papers and tv. They'll know about it.

I will try to scan my receipt in and post it to prove the £10 price match.

Asda say the £10 Wii Play is still going through today when you buy the console which is why John Lewis will price match it. Sorry for the jumbled description but was trying to post quickly before going to a meeting!

You have to make sure you explain to John Lewis that the Asda deal works when you buy the two separate items, as at first they tried to tell me that they couldn't price match the Wii Play as it would be a special bundle (i.e. all in one box) that Asda had in stock. Once I explained that it was definitely the same two items as they sell in John Lewis they were fine. They didn't even call Asda to check they were in stock or to confirm the price to be honest, so I think they must know.

Sorry - I've changed the title now so hopefully it's a bit clearer!

There were loads in John Lewis Newcastle and I would've thought there will be loads of the consoles at least in other stores, as they only changed the price today and I don't think it has been as well publicised as the Asda price drop.

I'm a bit confused how do we proved Asda is doing the wii and wii play for £155?

I'd love to get this as my nearest Asda is a 25 minute drive away and i live 5 mins walk from John Lewis!

Thanks

I'm currently battling with the work photocopier to scan in my John Lewis receipt! I called my local Asda first and asked them to scan (through the till not just price check) both items and check the price. John Lewis will just ask them to do the same or you can tell John Lewis to ask them that specifically if they're funny with you. They didn't even bother calling Asda at my John Lewis so I think they must know - they just want to make the sale so are happy to price match I found.

The price on the till is the price on the till, they can't change it if their systems tell them it's that price in Asda - it's just if they decide to change it overnight or something.

Only problem might be if your local Asda is out of stock of the Wii play or Wii console so can't check price together - you can still get the Wii console for £145 at John Lewis anyway though. :)
