+1

Will be easier to return to store too should it pack up within warranty

This is Wii White Discounted, so bear in mind it could be in very bad condition. Better get it from store as said above.

Just received Starcraft 2 from CEX and it says Sealed on the website. Came open, so not sure if I want to give it a try or just return it

If you decide for it, pay with PayPal, at least they will deal with the dispute

I bought one ages ago for £50 from them, it was only a discounted version as it was missing the flip lid where the gamecube pads go.

It's not even needed at all.

I've never had a problem with CEX before. Ordered a fair bit from them, too.

I guess it is a matter of luck. I had to return 2 or 3 of my orders.

Good deal anyway. Heat added

ave only ever sold to cex and that was mistake got lowest price for everything even tho some things was in very good condition

One more thing. These should come with 12 months warranty. Some stores (Stratford store for example) tell people that it comes with 28 days warranty from the store and try to sell you their own warranty.

This is not true and I had this confirmed with the CEX headquarters. All items (excluding consumables) should come with 12 months CEX warranty.

Avoid online but go for the instore, you will at least be able to see the quality of the console first.

Regards

They also have unboxed white for 65£. Should be in theory better condition

Cheers, I already have one but my sister has appointed me to find her a cheap one for her kids. Will try this week and have a look.

>> I've never had a problem with CEX before. Ordered a fair bit from them, too.

Ordered lots online, had lots of problems. When I say lots, I mean maybe 500 purchases. Probably 40 or so had obvious issues, with many more being faulty to some degree but that's sadly the same with most stores.

Usually simple things like wrong disc in case, no disc in case, faulty discs, faulty buttons on controllers, incorrect items (eg. composite cable instead of scart cable), orders of multiple items being cancelled just because one of them was unavailable.

Most of it's purley down to poor tech knowledge of staff when buying the goods in (ie. not checking - or not knowning how to check - goods properly to ensure they are what they're meant to be). As all consoles should be tested by a dedicated tech team in-store before being bought in, this would not only counter any issues with increased technical knowledge, but also mean at least 2 people looked over the things to spot any glaring errors (ie. "it's *not* a Wii console, it's a PS2 console" - hey, it's happened with discs...).

Soo... I'm guessing should be fine with a console. Then again, I'd buy in store, keep my receipt, and take a couple friends with me as witnesses, just incase...

That said, for £60, bargain! Hopefull £20 in GAME by xmas and it'll be xbox 1 all over again... :D

With the Kinect coming out on the Xbox there will be plenty of second hand Wii's around. The majority of my family members have already sold their Wii since getting the Kinect and all via Ebay.
The price of £60 isn't bad though but as people have said go in store as purchasing Online usually means you don't get their best condition of stock. Cex are usually ok but they only sell what they buy so item quality can vary quite a bit.

Bear in mind, the Sales of Goods Act comes above and before any company's own policy on "warranties". As relatively top end electrical goods, even used, I and most likely any judge in the land would expect them to last longer than 28 day, most likely at least 12 months if not more. If it broke before that point, warranty or no warranty, you'd have a very good legal case against CeX for goods being supplied as not fit for purpose. So, even if they do claim it's 28 days, ignore them, the law's got your back ;) Might not wanna try pushing the 12 month one though :p

Fair eno0ugh but I rather CEX admiting to what they offer and not try to push me additional sales, then running after my right in court for small value items.

Their policy is 1 yesr warranty on most things and some stores try to abuse this...

Would have to be mad to sell your Wii to get a Kinect, the wii is completley different and has 1000x more games for it. Also Kinect can only have 2 people playing at a time, so totally fails the 'party' aspect in my opinion.

I have both and I would sell my Kinect well before I sold my Wii.

Is this only for the console (ie: not remote)? The website makes no mention of what they mean by wii console...

Get a WODE to go with it !

As someone who works at CEX I can tell you this is a great deal, every console that comes into the store is checked for any basic issues, and any cracks, marks or any issues at all. Discounted consoles are consoles without the box and might look a bit grubby or have severe scratch marks, the console will need to have all its own genuine cables and controllers though.

I said I have both, and I barely play either of them. I actually recently played Kinect more but that is only because it is new. Fact is Kinect has 0 going for it right now, gets boring and very tiring very very fast. After 30 mins of play you are either aching or just plane annoyed at how bad it is. And the fun just is not there with the current titles, unless you are a big fan of dancing games then avoid the Kinect.

Paypal only deal with a dispute if you don't receive the item from a 3rd party. If it turns up and its junk they wont be interested.

Their terms are different when the purchase is not through eBay.

You can still pick up new ones from morrisons, when i went there on monday ( exeter ) for 70 pounds new!!
#35
You have amuch better time instore, they seem to palm off the old tosh on internet customers.. Bought one of these for £70 instore in August, and there wasn't a mark on it.. One of the controllers didn;t work they, but they happily swapped it instore..

WORD OF WARNING

Having only just had the displeasure of CEX after sales (complete lack of) customer service. I recommend everyone avoid like the plague.

I purchased a 120gb 360 Hard Drive, but then spotted a deal on here that was a lot cheaper. So I decided to contact CEX to cancel my order, to which they replied and said they can't cancel orders and I would have to return the item to their HQ - within 8 days from the day of delivery!! Which I did via Recorded Delivery (which is a must, as you need to prove you sent it back to them), they signed for this the following day. I left it for a few days to let them process the return, after 1 week no reply or refund so I contacted them through their site, nothing again. I then contacted Paypal to get them to follow it up, they said they could do nothing seeing as there was nothing wrong with the item in question! 5 weeks and 7 emails later I had still heard nothing, they have no contact numbers whatsoever!!

Finally my Wife started posting things on Facebook and the CEX Forums, and finally a member of Staff came back through Facebook, apologised and said he would arrange a refund the following day (I wasn't about to hold my breath though), but true to his word I finally received my money back. Even though it was resolved, I find it incredible how a company can still be running after years of conducting business this way. To top it all off I received an email yesterday apologising for the lack of response to my emails, their excuse was "it seems your emails slipped through the net", complete cowboys!!

But if I buy anything from CEX again it will only be in the stores.
#37
yeah, the best way to deal with cex is either not deal with them, or do it in stores, or unless like me you don't have any stores nearby at all. In store to see and check before you buy, as buying online from them, there's been a lot of horror stories of cex fobbing off bad condition tosh to people, and then having "communication problems" preventing refunds.

was slightly tempted before, but will look elsewhere.

To be honest i think i'd sell my kinect before the wii. And probably get more money for it to. Ive yet to find any game for the kinect that comes close to the super mario games for the wii. I really haven't got on with the kinect. Where as the wii is still going strong after all this time.

Hot price for a wii. No puns!!
#39
Everyone needs to buy a wii at this price..

Loads of cheap games and a controller that is 100% 'woman compliant'.
