I got all that free on a £21 a month 18 month contract with the link, so if you need a new phone go there before you buy a wii. Good deal though, we all love it.

Well done, you got a Wii for nearly £400.

It's almost guaranteed that you're tariff isn't worth £21 per month, and could be found cheaper elsewhere.

Remember, nobody would offer something they have no profit in.

Im sure hong kong uses the uk pal.

when you buy it in HK it will come with a UK converter and be chipped so you can download games off the net and burn them. Games are about 7 for a tenner. so i'd def do that.

If in the UK, also check this deal: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/197586/nintendo-wii-wii-sports-wii-sports-/

Not necassarily and HK consoles are NTSC/J standard so the menu will be in Japanese and this cannot be changed, also regional compatibility on the Wii is awful and Freeloader/Trucha was patched with v3.3, although I believe there is another work around now.

I guarantee that you will be bored of this console within a few months anyway, it's just an expensive tamagotchi really.

I got this package last month from Dixons, good offer. I also got wii play for £26.99 and with the £5 off voucher got the lot for £220
#11
Is this cheaper than a brand new one from ebay?

I don't really know anything about the Wii but is this a good price? On a scale of 1 to 10?

yes its a good price, mario kart hard to get hold of. Wii on its own is £180

However Zavvi have an offer where for £200 you can get a wii and ANY game for £200

So yes I would say its good offer

Just thought I'd mention the wii is pretty gutless and costs nintendo peanuts to make compared to the 360 and ps3 even allowing for the new controllers and sensor bar. The actual processor is oldhat and is often beaten by the processors fitted to cheap laser printers. Ok if you love the games fair enough but if your a first person shooter fan like me its pretty useless. Its certainly bad value technically.
#16
They actually made it with left over parts from the Gamecube, the wii remote was originally designed as a Gamecube accessory.

I have a Wii and a 360 though the 360 wins hands down in most departments the Wii does have it's special games like Mario Kart, many people will buy the console for that title alone and Smash brothers Brawl I think is released this Friday. It's also backward compatible (so is the 360) whereas the PS3 is not so it has good and bad points and I don't think about 25 million people who have brought it so far did so without trying it first.......
#18
I don't know about your PS3, but mine is completely backwards compatible, it even contains the PS2 hardware. The 360 uses pure software emulation and the Wii is backwards compatible with a console which nobody was interested in to begin with.

Yes that's because you have a now obsolete PS3 so not a lot of good to the other 99% who haven't got emulation, and the hardware emulation still had glitches in a lot of the PS2 games so I suppose that's why they removed it. especially as the 360 has shown it is every bit as capable of backward compatibility through software.

The Wii is Completely backward compatible, all the way to the NES of the 1980s so I don't know why you think it is only compatible with ONE console?....

Firstly, don't call my console obsolete just because it is superior to yours, and if you actually bothered to look then you would find that far more than 1 percent of PS3 owners have them, mine is a deluxe model, yours is a budget one.

Secondly, it has no glitches whatsoever and has ran every single game I have put into it perfectly, unlike the software emu consoles my housemate and friends have, they removed it as a money saving measure, and if you bothered to look then you would find out.

Thirdly, the 360 emulation of the xbox was based on an emulator written for Halo and although is quite an achievement is nowhere near good enough to be referred to as full backward compatibility, and finally backward compatibility refers to the end user being able to insert old media into the console and run it and so therefore Virtual Console does not count and the Wii is only backward compatible with the Gamecube.

Don't post unless you know what you're talking about, false information doesn't do anybody any favours.

Oh dear - that all got a bit heated didn't it..................

Anyway, theres 10% voucher at currys been listed today on HUKD - perhaps you could use this to bring the cost down more? Whizzkid who listed this item does not say what voucher code YAW686 represents to us bargain hunters.
#22
You want to avoid stacking codes against it really, just use the one that gets you the lowest price.:)

Alternatively, if you don't fancy waiting for delivery, pop into Blockbuster. Wii Console + any game up to the value of £34.99 (which includes Mario Kart) for £199.99, then the extra wheels are £4.99 or you can get a Sports Pack which includes wheel, tennis racket, baseball bat, golf club and 2 Wiimote jackets for £9.99.

I also have the 60gb ps3. It was very expensive to make using high grade components and had part of the ps2 chipset in. The original us and jap ps3 had both ps2 gpu and cpu in. The european model only features the gpu and emulates the cpu which means its not quite as compatible as the earlier designs with ps2 software. The later 40gb model strips down the ps3 spec to the bare minimum but does feature improvements like the blu-ray drive is meant to be better than the early ps3s. The later 60gb models and early 40gb models feature the same drive though. I certainly wouldn't replace my 60gb ps3 with a 40gb model because I have lots of ps2 games I love. It also features extra usb sockets, card readers, super audio cd playback (yeah ok a useless feature) and in theory a better quality video output via hdmi. The 40gb version in theory is more silent (in practice it may not be its luck of the draw how noisy the fan is) runs cooler and consumes less power. PS2 compatibility may come back to the ps3 range if sony can make it cheaper to implement. At the moment its just too expensive and they have to compete with the 360 on price.

The wii is basically a gamecube it just runs 50% faster all round thats gpu and cpu. However at the last minute nintendo shoehorned in an extra 64meg of memory. It has exactly the same limitation of 2meg video memory and 1meg texture memory which is why it can't do high definition at all. The gpu itself could do high definition but it doesn't have the video memory to support high definition modes. Thats why the wii can run gamecube games without problems as its basically the same console. The wii was originally going to be a $100 console but then nintendo realised how popular the new controller was and repriced it. It would be profitable at a retail price of £70. In fact more profitable than the 360 and PS3 on a per unit basis. You honestly get cheap £50 laser printers with more processing power. Don't get me wrong though I don't think Nintendo are pulling a fast one. If they can sell the console for £170 and people buy it in their droves thats the right decision. I still question the mentality of people though that will pay £170 for a console which is basically marginally inferior to the original xbox and thats sells for peanuts now. Remember the original xbox has full 5.1 sound where as the wii has 2 channel. The xbox can do 720p games like soul caliber II where as the wii is strictly standard definition at 480p tops. actual cpu and gpu power is about the same although the cpu in wii is marginally better than xbox although they run at the same speed. The gpu in xbox is marginally better than wii. The wii has 24meg main memory, 3meg video, 16meg slow memory and an extra 64meg of memory over the original gamecube plus storage on memory cards. However the xbox has 64meg of fast memory but its used for everything however a further 8gig of hard drive storage than the wii doesn't have. The point is original xbox games are at least a match for wii visually. Metroid on wii doesn't look as good as xbox games like Halo 2.
