Noticed this instore whilst checking prices-was recently @ £149 so an extra £20 off seems pretty decent for new,wii sports included. Even if the label on the shelf states £149 it will go through at £129(a lot of stores only change labels when it's a price increase)

EAN/Barcode is: 0045496342067 if you want to check stock before making a journey ;-)

Same as DS IMHO but I suppose they have to make up for the massive piracy loss somehow :whistling:

You do know technology companies have to spend a lot in R&D? You think the idea of purely going touch screen and interactive based just came out ot thin air?
#9
to be fair though in the case of the DS that R&D initial cost was made up a LONG LONG time ago. And likely the same with the Wii since it actually makes a profit with systems sold so Nintendo do not have to rely on game sales to actually earn some money like Microsoft and Sony.

Bit tetchy aren't we?!?! You do know that a lot of tech (printers, mobiles AND consoles) is sold at a close margin and even at a loss as they KNOW they can then get your money on peripherals dont you?

For instance, a Canon printer may cost you £15, it most likely cost more than this to R&D and manufacture BUT they then get you on ink. Same with mobiles, you get a cheap contract mobile as the provider subsidises the cost hoping that you will then stay with them.

My point was that Nintendo are probably losing more than most to piracy (even my mates gran has an R4 card in her DS!) and hence have to still subsidise low game sales with the console price. Now conversely, PS3 was being sold at a loss because (up until today.... only a matter of time now) it was hack proof, hence captive audience hence more income from software... does that make sense now? Perhaps its not me that needs the business lesson :whistling:

I wouldnt pay more than £120-£130 for a black Wii with motion plus and resort, let alone this.

thats generous, i wouldnt buy one all together. :-D

quality of gaming is old, they might as well rack up all the sales then give way to natal and ps3's arc.

good luck for next gen in terms of quality nintendo, you did good business though.

well i think going by prices they have been you would be lucky at £120- £130 lol but i know what your saying!

For £145 you could get a black wii at game at christmas with wii sports resort so for me this deal is cold!

Only reason its hot is people dont realise its the old bundle!

as for the black wii it has new chipset so no blank media will play only usb loader, these will be old chipset so not bad price. Think the game/gamestation preowned £99 offer better with same 1yr guarantee.
#25
its a great console if you dont want ur kids to be playing violent bloody video games :) or you want a bit of family fun. kinda boring on your own

Should of been this price on launch. The gamecube was £130 on launch and that was 9 years ago, and the Wii is only re using much of GC hardware. DS is very overpriced, £50 would be about right for the DS, £99.99 for the Wii. The only experience I have of the Wii is Wii fit, which I have to admit was fun in the pub I played it in along with some friends. But I think the novelty would wear thin if it was your own home console. Maybe great if you have little kids but the lack of proper games would annoy me. Now if they got Shenmue 3 on it, or even re releases of the first two Shenmues I would buy it in a heart beat.

Good news everyone!
There is supposed to be 11 of them in Tesco Extra in Stockport. Not on shelves of course. You'll have to kindly ask assistants at the electrical desk to check in the warehouse.

Yes, the R&D on a touch screen device must have cost millions because no other devices had such things before the DS. It's also not purely touch screen as it has buttons, triggers and a directional pad!

The GameCube was bigger than the Wii, it didn't reuse the hardware (as in, they didn't repackage them, and the components inside aren't exactly the same eiher), came with a game as well as new controllers and whatnot. The launch price was still a tonne less than the next console.
