Went into my local Morrisons this evening to what other gaming offers may be on etc.

I asked a member of staff behind the entertainment counter and he advised they will be selling the Nintendo Wii Console from Monday for only £70. He had no further details as they hadn't been sent any consoles yet into the store, but assumed it would just be the basic console and controller. (as far as a game, unclear at this stage)

** Please click the report link if anyone can provide confirmation of this offer and we will unexpire **

Can confirm deal as correct, wii is old model with wii sports NOT resort. Stock to be sent out today.

Good heads up,but I will only vote when confirmed.
#2
Nice deal. Still over priced though.

Still heat added.
#3
Still overpriced? Why?

The Wii is class if you bother to look for the good games that never get advertised.
#4
Hmm, doubtful. Surely they would do the £130 and then £99 price points before going this low. Reserving my vote until it's confirmed.
[mod]#5
I've expired the thread until the offer can be confirmed at £70 selling price but left it in deals to prevent reposts. If anyone can provide confirmation (copy of advert) please update thread and report for MOd review, thank you :)

* NB Confirmation now received from two different Morrison's employees who are also established members and have seen the stock boxes, £70 price labels etc - unexpired. Thanks to both members for updating.

Agreed I've got a PS3 for the graphics but nothing touches the wii for a bit of fun "console wise"

id rather wait for the kinetic to come down in price, which no doubt it will
#12
I'm Audio Bar staff and have heard nothing of this. Will update once I've seen the price changes tomorrow.

What a drop in price, surely it's in decline. Which means there should be something new about to come out. If they started this game, the next product has high expectations especially with sony and microsoft have really good options, hence the price savings.

I've got a wii, and I've got a PS3. The ps3 gets more play time but the wii still gets used a fair amount, so it's not all about the power...

Also work in Morris, haven't seen any big intake of consoles in the warehouse, and no word of it either.

Another Morrisions deal which begins "Went into my local Morrisons..."

The wii is now history thanks to the brilliant Kinect from microsoft. No risk of young kids throwing the controller through the telly. Kinect is fab.

I think the Wii is mainly a family / party console, but the 360 is for more serious gaming imo.
#20
for £70 its good but it still wont get played on. the money would be much better spent on PS Move or Kinect for a little more.
#21
Shouldn't this be a heads-up and thus should be mixed to misc?

Yeah, just the risk of kneeing your kid in the face or kicking your cat halfway across the room.

cracking price

Really, Morrisons use a small website like this to advertise their shops?
I bet they'd be nothing without hotukdeals! Scandalous!

HUKD is hardly a 'small' website, and it can generate alot of revenue for companies when a deal gets hot.

Hope this is true.

OK if you do not mind the delay in sync between body and screen movements.

Very annoying with my sharp brain!

also costs a lot more, totally different price bracket. imo wii games are still generally more fun, i have both.

£99 pounds would clear the shelves as fast as you could restock 'em. Regardless of what fanboy base you're coming from it's still a good modern console that has plenty of life left in it and a good selection of games both new and secondhand.

Just buy yourself a 2 quid (or so) component lead and it's a bloody good fun--funky console.

The PS3 is a work of Art, but also a lot dearer. But a wise investment if you are looking at a future in gaming (Sony are sublime in what they have created in the "Playstation" consoles' and their support there of).

So what I am trying to say is there's no way on God's green earth that I can see a 'brand new' Wii being sold for £70.

But if I'm wrong there's going to be an uber bargin and some happy gamers out there.

should be a heads up in misc but these seem to be allowed in deals now

couple of comments from MSE

It the old mark one that comes with wii sport only limited number available. starts Monday.

i work for morrisons but i am on holiday this week, so dont know much about the deal, but i do know it is old stock ie no motion plus on controller and sports game only, also only available in the white. selling price at the minute is £144!!!! i was wondering how they were going to get rid of them as that price is a rip off considering.

Fan-Boy Fight!!

For the record, Kinect is limited in terms of the games you can play as most games will require a controller of some sort....How could you possible play Fifa for instance?

Amazon sold some for £50 on black Friday a couple of months back. They included the black edition.

Its hilarious how these discussions go off topic.

£70 quid is about the right price for a Wii considering the cost of an X360
