Looked every where (online and hight street shops) to get a Nintendo wii for the normal retail price with no joy, didn't want to pay ebay or Amazon market place prices. I spotted them in our local Sainsburys (Newton Abbot) so I bought one. I asked about their stock and was told thay had 5 left, chances are your local sainsburys might have some in stock too, well worth a phone call to check if you are after one.

I was looking for couple of weeks but could not find a game shop or any shop online or high street who had one in stock. There are some on ebay £200+ and market place Amazon for £296.97 for just the Wii.
As I saw recently few people looking for a Wii in these forums, I though I let them know to check their local sainsburys. Looking at the heat set at -10, I guess I was wrong as most of you seem to think there is a better deal out there at the moment :?
However I do agree with asusboy, if you are a gamer you want to think about xbox 360 or PS3, but can't get a better entertainment gaming machine to involve the whole family (kids and adults), if you have friends over or play the boxing game to loose pounds of fat, it is much more fun than going to the gym;-)

I can't believe there still in high demand

I know several people who bought them early on and have sold on once the novelty had worn off. Good for young kids or playing with groups of friends though.

But at £179, it's starting to look expensive. Especially with the Xbox360 Arcade being released later this month for $279 (£137). This is the replacement model for the core and includes built in memory unit and wireless controller.

Its part of Nintendo marketing scheme. Supples to meet on demand only no extra stocks. But i seen them in all the shop been as they display a sign "in stock".

Judging by the sales figures, it's not marketting - in under a year the Wii has the best sales of this generation and that's including the 360 which has been out an additional year.

I still have mine and love it.

Currently playing paper mario - good fun :)
Cant wait for Metroid
Also mario galaxy, mario kart, that fighting game that name escapes me...

I think compared to a PS3 it has much more fun games! Love it.

Still getting a 360 though for the times I want a bit more "hard core" gaming. :D

Don't go upsetting people. I 100% agree with you though.

Woolies are selling them for £161 (when they have them in stock!)
#15

Thanks for this OP....I've spent the afternoon trawling round town looking for a WII with no joy - plus there are at least three different realtime online stockcheckers which are showing no stock anywhere.

And as for all the armchair critics who voted this cold....well check your facts first. Wiis are currently hard to come by, so this post is greatly appreciated.

I've just dropped my mate at sainsburys to get some shopping and asked him to check out of curiosity if they had any as i was waiting in the car. He came out and said they were selling 1 a day and they still had todays so went and bought it! There gaming section is only 1 small bay too and doesn't advertise that they sell them. This was the Newcastle-under-Lyme store. So thanks to the OP

Wii are for kiddies. Zelda was not even a Wii game, its a gamecube game:thumbsup:

Wii are cheaper than Xbox 360. Parents buy wii for kidies. Cos its cheaper and its a family Oriented system. Wii games gets a regular 65% rating:giggle:

All that hype being out of stock want to people try it. Then get flooded on ebay which is why they more wii on ebay sold than any other systems.

Anyway wrong forum to decuse about this. Sorry Nintendo fanboy:whistling:

I love the nds lite tho:-D Can't wait for Advance Wars 2.

I completely disagree with saying that the Wii is exclusively for kids. It probably does cater for kids more than any of the other consoles but if you look at games such as Metroid Prime 3 (Shooter game), Super Smash Brothers Brawl (Fight game), Super Mario Galaxy (Adventure/Platform game) and Mario Kart Wii (Kart/Racing game) which are all coming out soon, hardcore gamers are getting plenty of games to play in all different genres.

So you saying more Ford cars is sold in a year is better than a Ferrari which sold alot less unit:whistling:

Yh, because the price difference between a Ford and a Ferrari is £200. PS2 was more expensive than the GameCube but that did not stop it from outselling it by a considerable margin, plus as you would put it the Gamecube was a 'kiddy console'. The fact is that the Wii is innovative and a lot of hardcore gamers appreciate this and the excellent games out and coming out on the Wii, which is why a lot of hardcore gamers have either a PS3 or XBox360 with a Wii.

My (recent) Nintendo history:
Got a ds on launch day with five titles. No new games coming out for ages made me decide to ebay it three months later, ended up losing £30 on the package.
Got a ds mariokart pack when that came out, £90 inc game with a friend's Tesco discount. Played Mariokart, Phoenix Wright, etc for a few months, found a wait for new games again, sold it on ebay for £87 I think.
Noticed that there were loads more DS games about a year back, so got a lite for £100, and a free game. I've been playing it ever since, i'm not halfway through the games I want to play. Sold it last week at cex for £67 as i'm off to the US at the end of the week and they have the redtopped lite with Brain Training 2 for $150 (£75).

Owning the DS has thus far cost me approx £50, which has given me 18 months of use. I've just sold a Wii on peebay for £170, honestly- what other product can you buy, play with til you're bored, then sell for a £10 loss??? I think the Wii is a bargain- £180 won't get you much, a decent ipod perhaps, and the return is always going to be good if you sell it. Nintendo have made me loads of money over the years- I fondly remember buying boxed Snes consoles with 15/20 boxed games for £50-70 quid going back a few years when the PS1 was what everyone wanted. I ended up selling the majority of the titles on peebay for £20-40 when prices were high in the early 2000s. Rock on Nintendo, purveyors of cheap entertainment!

im getting a wii at the end of the month hopefully, if your a relatively serious gamer you prob with have either the 360 or a ps3, but with the wii being innovative and relatively cheap i think plenty of people will have a wii and either the 360 or the ps3....ill prob get one of the 2 next year
