I came through Terminal 5 at Heathrow yesterday and was pretty shocked to see the price of this !

I already have one so did not purchase but its definetly correct and genuine because I chatted to a guy about it.

Its just the Console, Controllers, cables, etc.
Its all new and boxed.

Why Cold ?

The price seems good to me, the cheapest you can get a Wii preowned is £99 from gamestation, so £15 extra for a brand new one seems excellent. I think anyone who has voted cold has done so because this is one shop only, and not a very easy shop to get to either!

I won't vote either way: good price, bad location.

When you say "no games" does it not even come with Wii Sports?

I think they all come with Wii sports if they're new.

is this the duty free price?

£134 at normal hmv
less vat
is pretty close to £114

if it is vat free, this deal only applies to non-eu to eu flights, or eu to non-eu flights

can't really vote hot because if this is ex-vat it is a dupe of the £134 hmv deal posted..

cold

just had a quick look at the stores and the terminal 5 one is on the departures, which means that this price only applies to people taking this console outside of the uk to a non eu country or arriving from a non eu country (if hmv allows pickups when arriving)

so to actually buy this wii at this price you need to show a boarding pass to a non-eu country.

if you cannot show a non-eu boarding pass you need to pay £114 + vat, which makes it near identical to the £134 hmv deal..

youl could in theory get the same price at a standard hmv store if they support global refund, which allows you to buy a product full price, then when you leave the uk within 3 months claim the vat back by getting customs to confirm the export... (but note global refund charge a handling fee, which rather than 15% vat you typically only get 10%)..

have to vote cold as this is just a dupe of the £134 hmv deal and that

AFAIK it is a Tax Free shop.
I'm fairly sure that the price can be gotten by anyone travelling regardless of leaving the EU or not.
Anyway - Its there if anyone is flying from Heathrow because I would think its all Terminals.

you think this , you think that..
I thought you were sure bout this deal. Please dont tell me this was in the duty-free HMV which would make this a pretty dumb post

anyone can buy it regardless of where you are flying to...BUT... there are currently sold out in T5 and not sure if they are getting anymore. Black Wii is available for £127.65, better deal I think as it comes with with Wii Sports and Resort as well as motion plus.

Expired.
Good.

£99 for a wii from gamestation sounds like a good deal to me. Especially if you can use one of the older chips to back up all your games in the case they get damaged.

Still this price is decent but like it is said above difficult to get to
#14
This deal is legit, I work at stansted and saw it last week.

Yup you need to be airside to buy it and no you dont have to be flying out of the EU anyone airside can buy one, and that includes staff, at last some perks to working at an airport!!!!
#15
for those who can get to it, a great deal...not everything on here is designed to reach everyone....eg. home bargains, smythes etc...lots of deals on here but living in the south, i dont have access to one..that doesnt make it any less of a deal...some people need to put their handbags down and chiiilllllllllllllll!!!
#16
this is also in terminal 3 and is the duty free price... as far as i know all flights from terminal 3 are non eu but im not 100% certain, but i have only ever used T3 for USA and Canada flights

Of course, apart from airport workers, the only way to get airside is to be travelling out of T5.
Do the retailers not charge you a VAT inclusive price if you can't prove you're travelling outside of the EU, or do they charge everyone the VAT-free price and put the onus onto the purchaser to own up (when they take the goods back through UK or EU customs) that VAT is due on the £114.99 ?
