Also from the German Amazon.de
I'd be going this route for definite if i didnt have one.
£3 for a Euro plug adapter at Maplins too.
#2
Not sure why this is cold

Same process as Amazon Germany, ordered mine on Thursday and its now at the local DHL office so should have it tomorrow.

Slap on a plug adaptor and off you go....

cos u can get an english version if your patient theres a few flying around, wth less hassle and when get bored you can go trade it in.
#4
I'd bet you could trade in the French or German one as long as you left the plug adapter on it. It's hard to tell that it's an adapter.

It's getting *so* close to xmas now I wouldnt be patient enough to hold out. You'll only end up with mega bundle packages at rip off prices.

To me amazon.foriegn is the best route just now.

Trade in value of a 6 - 12 month old games console that retailed for £180?

Not alot! so the price different maybe £10

Yes there are some floating around but I have not got the time to sit in front of my PC waiting for alerts, then trying to get onto a overworked website in the hope that I do get one.

Yes they may come back in stock before Christmas but wht stress out when you can get a Euro version for cheaper that a UK version in 3-4 days?

I thought i would have trouble getting one before xmas but without even watching the alert sites, i saw on this site that they were instock at play.com, ordered and arrived the other day.
#7
I have just checked Play.com and the current price for the console is £277. I can understand the reluctance to buy from France or Germany but I think that £102 is worth it and after all you are buying from Amazon. Hope this helps.
#8
whats the difference with the french model?
Do I need to mod it at all?
Ta
#9
No need to mod, the system plays UK, EU and AU games. Menus all in 5 lanugages, same for the store.
Would recommend buying an official UK adapter from Nintendo because the fire risk- but those adapters are cheap.

As far as warranty goes you should be fine, some stores like GAME might be a bit pissy with trading in. Just take it to Blockbuster or GameStation where they don't care. You'll probably get more anyway.

I'm going to get a couple soon as soon as we get info about November stock. Not risking it if I'm gonna sell at a loss and not be able to return.

take nintendo wii to store to trade in.Is that wot u mean?
#11
Remember folks: at the end of the day, you can slap on a genuine Nintendo adaptor if you so wish. I'd doubt that any trade-in places would turn down an extra year of warranty ...
#12
where can we get the genuine nintendo adaptor?

We shouldn't be this over the top about a console. Sad state of affairs.

Don't give Nintendo cause to think their creation is anymore than a 1/2 year fad.

Sorry - just my two penneth! :)
#14
I've seen a few adaptors on eBay recently.

As for being a fad, I'm not so sure. Sony have gone out of their way to create that weird motion sensor ball thing for games. Seems a little convenient to me.

The only problem Nintendo have, is that when the next lines of consoles are developed, their ideas will be old hat. Not at present though - the Wii is innovative and unique, which is why people want them.

1/2 year fad ? look around !!
these Wii's are still fetching over the odds on fleabay nearly a year after the launch and my local TRU's had people queing at 3.30 am on Saturday for the 20 they had in stock.
Whilst the Wii may not be the true gamers weapon of choice the fact remains that it is the best selling console ever and shows no signs of 'fading' due to its uniqueness and accessibility to all.

I know. I DO agree with you, and didn't mean to take anything away from those for whom the wii is great. I should have made myself clearer - a 1 - 2 year fad rather than 1/2 year fad (you see what I did there).

Was failing to make myself clear that in this age where most Brit families are struggling to get nourishing food at home - let alone eating together - we're concerned about the latest console.

Sorry - ignore me :)

Wii just arrived this morning everything fine, the only way you can tell that it is not UK is the continental plug, but as pointed out by may others that is easily fixed. On with the games. Good old Santa Dad.:santa:

Can anyone confirm that the Wii sports instructions inside the box and all of the descriptions on the outer box are in English??
#22
I got one of these for the mrs from amazon.de. It was delivered within a week :)
#23
Does anyone know if it's a 2 year warranty with the french ones?
#24
difference between this and german ones?
#25
i dont think cex will accept these foreign imports - as when they scan the box it wont have the same barcode as a UK one.

im happy to stick to the UK one, sure its more as you usually have to buy a bundle, but its peace of mind.
#26
I can confirm that all of the descriptions on the packaging and the sports booklet are in English. Don't know about the warranty as I am hiding it from the kids and haven't opened all of the packing yet. I don't think there is any difference between this the 'French' Wii an the 'German' Wii as despite ordring this from Amazon France it appears to have come from Amazon Germany. Go figure!
