Don't know if this has been posted already, I saw an advert in the Daily Mirror today which said that the Nintendo Wii will be in stock tomorrow at ToysRus 71 stores nationwide. Open from 8am - strictly on a first come, first served policy. Hope this helps you wiiers!

Honestly? I own a 360 and can't afford a Wii until next year (unless of course I cancel my new year celebrations) and would probably suggest you opt for a Wii and look into getting the 360 in the first 'official' price drop later next year. I have a HDTV and it's all very 'ooh, ahh' but can't actually name any game I couldn't easily live without.

Besides, if you have lots of friends and a Wii you'll have an absolute riot.

No worries, cheers. It's not the cost that's the issue, just the games they force on you. Guess I'll have to see if I can get up early enough :D

Thanks :) So having read that I managed to get to MK ToysRus at 08:10, to be greeted by "sold out". Heh.

I preordered in October, but don't think I'll get one before Xmas at this rate.

Yeah I didnt realise this would be so popular, got to TRU at 8.05 in Brent Cross the queue was out the door with some woman screaming abuse at the poor manager and waving a copy of the Daily Mirror. Guess that the price I pay for living in such a densely populated area! GL guys in getting one!
On the plus side I think this indicates retail getting more stock on the high street very soon.

Joined the queue at 6 am at Oldbury, West Mids ...... Too late all had been allocated by 4 am. They took details just in case of further deliveries.

From your link:

Games firm Nintendo has said it will replace all broken straps for its Wii console, following customer complaints.

The strap is connected to a motion sensitive remote which is used to control the on-screen action.

The announcement follows reports about the wrist straps breaking during use, leading to the controller slipping out of hands, smashing TVs and windows.

Nintendo said the straps do not present a problem if used correctly, but will still replace all broken ones for free.

In addition all new Wiis will come with an "enhanced" strap which should not be as prone to breakages.

The Japanese firm has also recalled 200,000 AC adapters for its DS and DS Lite consoles in Japan. Nintendo said the recall would not affect overseas adapters , and company executives expected only a small impact on earnings.

It doesn't mention anything about recalling the consoles bud, just replacing the straps.

I think Repo is right,

as BBC News says "Games firm Nintendo has said it will replace all broken straps for its Wii console, following customer complaints."

No mention of a recall in the article..

EDIT - the-father beat me too it.
