You can switch the Wii off into Standby mode (Orange Light) and it will charge the remotes :)

standby mode does not power the USB port - I have a 2.5" drive connected to mine and it goes off in standby

May be something to do with date of manufacture but I have a remote charger and 2.5" drive in mine and both remain on with orange light.

wii is at least a couple of years old.
#21
Good buy batteries gone dead in ones we've got so this is ideal.

The dock we have does charge in the orange standby mode, so not sure if this will or not but I'd presume it's be the same.

Ordered one – Thanks

In order to use charging whilst in standby mode, standby mode needs to be enabled in the Wii settings.

Go to Settings>WiiConnect24>Standby, turn the option to on. You will then be able to turn the wii off into standby mode with usb charging (an orange light) by either holding the on/off button on the wii console for a few seconds or by pressing the on/off button on the Wii remote. If you want to enable standby mode with the no power to the usb ports (red light), hold the on/off button on the Wii console for around 5 seconds.

Cheap and great for me just brought my boy a wii for christmas, gonna save a bomb in batteries:thumbsup:
#26
bargain!
#27
ive been told these ruin the wii or the remotes??
any truth in this any one know?
#28
I bought one of these last year and to be honest it was pants. Worked for 2 days then one of the sides stopped working. Exchanged it and the same thing happened with the other one after a fortnight. I may have been unlucky but it has put me off and i wouldnt bother with them again.
#29
Just got the kids a Wii, so for £6.66 it's worth a punt.
#30
super hot thanks
#31
Thanks, ordered one.

I think power is still available from the usb of the wii when it is in standby mode. So as long as the wii is not unplugged from the mains then the charger will be charging the batteries.of the remotes.

Yes same here!
even though ours lasted a little longer...the metal clip that pokes out to make contact with the wii-mote gets bent easily as the holder isnt as snug as it could be, so they wobble a bit when your trying to get the contacts on...
Batteries must have been charged just under 20 times and they went dead....
I have had better luck with usb battery charger unit...
#34
Excellent find..Thanks! :santa:
#35
also got one of these from woolies last year, the units dont hold there charge very well thou.

ive gone back to some £1 rechargable batterys from the pound shop, which last a whole lot better

i would advise to avoid
#36
BOUGHT THESE OVER 2 YEAS AGO, and have been faultless
reduced charge now, but plenty long enough, and charge as has bene said whilst on yellow led with wii off.
The indicators on the unit are solid when charging and flash when completed so you can reste the wii to 'off' red then ifyou wish...

I 'think' the blue disk slot illumination lets you know no power drawn too, but cant remember tbh.

Shame that they can't be compatible with charging whilst the motion plus is attached, but you can't blame them for that when it wasn't even abaout then....

, but not too much trouble to remove...

These use aaa's too but as said, they wihstand the serious thrashing with ease, and you can allways pop in a spare set of AAA rechargeables in the unlikely event you drain them , or more likely you forgot to charge them ;)

I
