Cheapest I have seen this on Amazon in the past month.

Also:
Nintendo Wii U 32GB Premium Pack with Mario Kart 8 + Minecraft bundle
£235.98

Nintendo Wii U 32GB Xenoblade Premium Pack - Black (Includes Exclusive Artbook and World Map)
£239.00

However you get a free gamepad cover and hat from the official uk Nintendo store so maybe the Mario Kart one for £214.99 is the best one to go for.

Edit - Looks like the price has gone up to £225.87.

Yep I agree. I think though Nintendo really wound down production a while ago and there aren't that many of them left to be sold, so no real reason to sell at a loss.

Good price but I'm waiting for them to get cheaper which I hope eventually happens! ;)

No thanks less than 4 months until the Nintendo Switch comes out.

You may as well wait for the switch now especially with Splatoon and Mario kart 8 both being ported over. It is worth this price just for those 2 games alone btw.

Should get a decent valuation on antiques roadshow.

ive been commenting on these threads for 2 years saying the same!
ive just bought a wii u for the second time (and last) but couldnt justify this price, can pick one up for around £100 second hand.

The Hardware was not cheap to mass manufacturer and they never shifted that many units to bring the price down, shame as first party games are top notch as always but Nintendo really blew it with this Machine from the Naming to the original price point to the second screen game controller.

Yep, there's so many great games i want to play on this, but i just can't justify the cost for what is essentially a supercharged Wii.......just hope they port it all across to the Switch.

Staying high due to the laws of supply and demand... supply near zero, demand ever-so-slightly higher than that
#13
new ones wont drop till next year obvs decent used ones on you know where are better value imo.

They have already announced that they are releasing new switch versions of Mario cart and splatoon that are just directors editions of the wii u versions although being Nintendo I am sure they will charge full £40 prices

Going to keep an eye if Amazon gets new stock of the Wind Waker HD edition. That's really the only 'Special' edition.

Switch is available for £198.50 at GameSeek (I decided to go for it and pre-ordered it through Paypal) which in itself is already cheaper than a Wii U.

The only reason I intend on buying a second Wii U is due to the GamePad.

The quality of the GamePad's screen is very dated and underwhelming. Doesn't come anywhere close to being 'amazing.'

No, in terms of technology it really is outdated.

Why buy something that is obsolete?

Expensive for a dead system.

Some of the greatest games on the planet and people complain about the hardware. It's plenty good enough to achieve what the developers have envisioned. If Nintendo have demonstrated anything, it's that consoles don't have to be super-powerful in order for great games to exist.

Yeah the Wind Waker HD edition was 169.99 on amazon at one point September last year iirc. I remember looking at it but didn't buy it for some reason. Wish I had now

I am also surprised that this "old" console is such a high price still. I can only guess (and agree with others) that there aren't that many new ones kicking around now... I have one and think it's a good console.

Not worth this price.
It's officially a dead console that is discontinued with handful of great games.
the successor Nintendo Switch which appears to be promising unlike Wii U is out in couple of months at will sell for £200 based on leaks.
and most Wii U good titles are likely to get ported to it with superior graphic minus the tablet controller nonsense.
Don't waste your money.

What are peoples thoughts on going second hand from ebay ?

I can't believe they still have the cheek to charge over £200 for a dead system.

Why is it dead? Great for kids at the right price.

Perhaps because there is so little stock left, they don't need to reduce it. There still is demand for this, mainly the people who are waiting for the price to drop and then realising it is not going to happen.

There's no more being made and stock is slowly drying up from shops (Zavvi and base have none). Black Friday was the last chance for a reduction, and the cheapest was £235. Pre-owned prices are slowly increasing (Cex price increased by £20 the other day).

Good luck to the people in this thread waiting for them to go to £100 (It's never gonna happen).

The price may be high, but there is no need to be pissy about it.

Don't confuse your personal opinion with facts

The Wii U is dead, it was withdrawn from most stores over a year ago, and Nintendo's new console is inbound.

It's deader than dead dead mcdead, winner of last years mr dead competition

well for me i dont have no issue with it at all in fact i think its better than the wii & most other consoles but thats because its the kind of one i like but i understand everyone else is entitled to their own views

I can only assume NintendoWarrior241 was taken when you were creating an account on here. I doff my cap to you for your white knighting efforts, but Nintendo have never been great with pricing insofar as price drops etc go. Even when it was doing abysmal and Nintendo were wanting it to succeed, their unwillingness to drop the price hindered the console when it mattered most. I can only assume it's still this price because it's Nintendo being, well, Nintendo.

I don't doubt it's a fun console; i own one myself. However i paid less than this 2 years ago.. when it hadn't been discontinued.
