If you are buying a Wii U then the best deal is still on rakuten.co.uk for the basic pack with Just Dance 2014 & Nintendoland & a Wii remote plus which also comes with the sensor bar. All this for £169.99 but you get £25 back in points so cheaper than this in theory with all the extras included and from the same shop:

Ok ill bite. It hasn't been this cheap before for the console. And i know this is going to lead to a bundle debate so ill just say people have the option of buying really what they want. If they are after paying out for the console for £150 and saving a bit of money instead of going for a bundle then its an option for them. Competition is healthy. People want different stuff other than what you want. ya see? there are plenty of low cost wii games that people can add to this at there choosing if they want to.

Like I said no offense Turk I appreciate all your deals and buy a lot of them but I feel this is a bit much for the console. You will almost certainly buy a Wii remote at some point and they're not cheap. But I look at the £25 points as good as money as there is soo much you can buy on rakuten at good prices

No offense taken at all but you said why is it getting hot? Its getting hot because some people agree that it is a good deal. Not everybody can afford to buy straight out.

Theres apparently an amazon bundle for 199 quid consisting of..:

8gb console
Mario Kart 8
Super mario 3d world
Nintendoland
Wii U Party

Good luck getting those 4 games for 50 quid. The 199 quid deal seems to be the one to go for.

This bundle seems better value at £25 more, but with Just Dance, Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros and a Wii Remote.

Probably the going rate now for the non premium console;

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/the-wii-u-basic-has-had-a-price-cut-in-the-uk/0142155

These are old stock. Nintendo announced they stopped making the basic model back in June last year but such are the sales figures for the console there is still stock available. Some has been repackaged I believe.

I could see it going a bit cheaper in the new year in the sales. Ongoing once basic stock is cleared it will be premium only until the next variation of the wii u appears.

I got it for 185 through flubit :D

Good price for someone who's starting their Wii U collection but I'd suppose that someone would wanna go straight for Smash so I'm afraid that they'd be better spending £30-40 more to get it at the same time.

Don't forget Flubit as they offer a lower price than Amazon. I got Wind Waker HD for £22 and that's a pretty good deal, imo.

I bought a Wii U bundle from Rakuten recently and got nowhere near this £25 in points that's regularly mentioned on here. I don't understand how this is supposed to work. I spent £175 and got 183 points which only seems to translate to £1.83 off anything I try to order.

I ordered this for my sister in law for her son for Christmas, he adores my Wii U and I've been looking for a good bundle for her, thought this was an unmissable deal. Due for dispatch this Friday, I have everything crossed there's no problem with it as it really seemed too good to be true almost

That's just the standard 1 point for a £1 spend the 25% promotion is running up until the 7th of December. Once the promotion ends you will get up to a maximum of £25 in points applied to your account within 72 hours and has to be used by the 31st of December. So you will receive them before the 10th of December

Ah cheers JohnnyRoller, that makes sense. I bought the items on the 13th of November, hopefully the promotion was active then.

*edit*

Alas, it seems the offer started on the 24th of November, so I was too early :-(

Just out of curiosity, why is there 8gb and 32gb consoles. What difference does the extra memory make?

It's all automatic, the promotion ends on the 7th of December so you would need to buy before then. The points will be added within 72 hours of the promotion ending. So don't be too concerned not seeing the points straight away.

I, personally, find it absolutely bizarre that the 32gb version is so much more than the 8gb one. It's such a small amount anyway, the MUCH better option is a cheaper 8gb SKU along with external disk space. 32gb is a really curious amount.

Really? why wouldn't you buy an Australian sheep dog and a bag of chips and then sit on a bench in the park instead with the money?

Yeah, I don't understand why Nintendo keep cutting the price on the 8GB SKU so aggressively and don't change the 32GB.

Yes, there are many other optional ways to spend your money, but for me personally, I would like a Nintendo system solely for the Mario games, particularly Mario Kart having come from a Wii.
I was tempted to go for an Xbox One during the Black Friday/Monday deals, but looking at the titles available, not one interested me, even the racing games just look boring and lame after a few runs.
Also, having a young dauhghter who likes the kind of titles on the WiiU, this is probably the way I'll be spending my money.
As for me, love to go 32gb, but I can see the price dropping before christmas. Well, I hope so.

You're forgetting that this is a game's console with quality exclusives you can't get anywhere else and Vita... oh lord, please have mercy.
