I work for CEX and let me just warn potential buyers, if you want a console that is going to work fine but you're not fussed on the condition of it then this is a great buy.. If you want a decent condition one, go to your local store and ask to see a few. A lot of the discounted ones we have in our store have nasty scratches on or have turned a strange colours.. some might also be missing the gamecube controller port flaps. They do work (although 1 or 2 faulty ones may slip through the system) but the discounted ones can be in really bad physical condition sometimes.. but if that doesnt bother you, buy buy buy! :D

Who needs games like wii sports when mad world is £2???

I have to warn people that I bought an item a few weeks back from CEX online, when it arrived it was missing it's power supply (despite their claim that all items are tested and working before sale), I emailed their customer services who replied 3 days later saying they'd send a power supply, and it's now 3 weeks on and I've not received it or had any response to subsequent emails - looks like I'm going to have to initiate a VISA chargeback through my bank!

Everyone including me sold their Wii before xmas last year, they where given out £120 i think for one, and selling them for £80!.

Mine was only played with about 6/7 times, and i had still kept all the little packets and the box!. Such a nerd i am :-D

So, i know mine was perfect and working, so im not sure if these will be like new, or like the person above said, scratched to bits.

I still havent worked out why they offered £120 and only sold them for £80 though. Must people get bored of a Wii fast, so i'd think must would be in good condition.

The games are very boring, and other then say mario galaxy the games suck.

Ahh wrong shop, i sold mine at game/gamestation. Doh!.

Angry customers keen to talk about CeX
By PAUL SMITH
According to its website, CeX is an online retailer that’ll “buy, sell and exchange a range of technology and entertainment products including mobile phones, video games, DVDs, HD films, computers, digital electronics, vision and music CDs.” According to many of its customers, including avid Bitterwallet reader Adam, CeX wouldn’t know customer service if it smacked them on the arse. And that’s one of the nicer things customers seem to say.

CEX and all who work there are a bunch of muppets with no customer service skills whatsoever. Whenever I used to go in the queue would get longer and longer, and the 'workers' would just wander about staring into space - anything apart from serving a customer.

When you can get perfectly decent, courteous, well trained staff for the minimium wage, these days it baffles me why CEX (mis)management insist on employing braindead zombies.

DO NOT BOTHER with CEX online, they have no customer service number, they take 4 days or more to reply to emails, if you even get a reply at all. If you are going to buy one get it from in store you can pick the best one possible, and then you can return to store for replacement if it breaks etc rather than doing it online cos it takes forever!!!

Voted hot because good deal though!

Another warning to potential customers:

AVOID THESE COWBOYS

at least online, I ordered 5 games, 2 where passable, 2 where scratched beyond repair and the fifth one was shipped without any manuals and a snapped disc inside a battered dvd case. I will never deal with them again.

Indeed

Nothing but bad experiences with CEX :(

Cex are a shambles of a company, read my thoughts in the comments section of the Bitterwallet article if you wish. If you get a wii in good nic your lucky but don't expect any favours if its trashed.worst customer service ever.

Hi, just wondering why you've started every word in your reply with an uppercase letter? Also, 1 exclamation mark has the same effect as a dozen.

Cex give the same price for a game even if it hasnt got instructions so you do run the risk of getting games without instructions.

wish I could disagree with some of the previous comments but I cant. I work for them and I wouldnt order from the website due to each store having their own way of doing things and their own standards.. and as some will say, some stores have no standards and will buy in any trash and happily send it out. Our store received 7 graphics cards from another store last week, 5 of them sent straight back due to being bent, missing parts or some other faults. It is a joke and I'd definitely recommend going to a local store to get one.

I bought my xbox 360 off cex like a year ago. Cost me £125 including 60Gb hard drive (separate buy) with wireless controller. It was also a falcoln model. It was discounted because it had brown stains. Went home, got a damp tissue and simply cleaned it off. It's now in mint condition. Some stores, like Uxbridge, sell these goods for like £10 cheaper than online, probably because they don't have to post it anywhere.

Good deal, the only thing is is that wii only has a handful of good games.

heya, is the nunchuck attachment included with the wiimote?

Can anyone get paypal working on the cex website? I usually pay by it since its easier to get your money back through paypal when things go wrong, but paypal option seems to not be on the cex website for me for the past few weeks :(

Also I have ordered quite a few things from cex online as I don't have a local store theres only one in Scotland :( only had a problem with one item - the game came with a dodgy photocopied sleeve and was missing the accessor necessary to play the game! Emailed them got it sent back and got another one sent out that was fine :) not great customer service but not as awful as some suggest.

Also sometimes you order something that is in stock and days later they let you know it was infact out of stock - sometimes the item then appears back in stock on the website but again if you order it its apparantly out of stock again!

Strange little company some of the stuff is vastly overpriced and much cheaper to buy new - but have had several gems that are much cheaper at CEX than they are even on ebay and postage is free although sometimes can be slow!

Paypal still works if you go through http://uk.webuy.com instead of http://www.cex.co.uk

How come there are two versions of the site? And does anyone know each of the stage descriptions when your order. I have ordered something and it's stuck on stage 2 - stock picking complete. Btw i don't rate cex well at all but only used them on this case as they were the cheapest.

buy in store and check the item thouroughly

At least you get a 12m guarantee from purchase. if it breaks they'll swap it for another one with a 12m guarantee

avoid online

they are rubbish at best

I've had dvds and cds in the post without even case and artwork.. WTF

disks can also be scratched to bits and unplayable.

they take 3 or 4 days to reply to emails or not at all. They always promise to refund postage but this does not happen. I've been promised refunds 7 times although never received a penny

the stock includes all stores so your item you've ordered may have been bought the same day in store so it takes them a week to tell you the order has failed

No the stock online does not include stores - they are listed seperately theres hundreds of items that are listed on the site as available in store but you cannot buy them online.

All round a strange company indeed but sometimes a bargain to be had just wish I had a store near me!

Thanks very much for that :) would much rather pay by paypal - not buying the wii just mean for items in general!

I'll give this a go tomorrow (in store). Got some stuff I want rid of and they're offering more than anyone else, so worth a shot.

Let's hope they're in good nick!
#29
Also, does anyone know if CEX take DS games which are US imports?

stock online is stock from stores but some cex shops dont take online orders. for instance the leicester granby st store everything they have in stock is available to buy from online but some other stores dont take online orders. also you cannot choose which store you order from

It appears CEX are having bigger problems online than just customer complaints, despite still showing the Paypal logo as a payment option, the pay by Paypal option disappeared a couple of weeks ago.
Now when trying to pay by debit card, its giving a message saying they no longer accept a whole list of cards, inc American Express, and most Bank Debit cards (All Visa Debit types and some Mastercard ones), this is never a good sign!
