RE: the Wii RRP increasing to £199.99 does anybody think it'll be passed on to the consumer in the immediate future- was in GAME the other day and one of the boxes said "only £179.99 limited offer RRP: £199.99" scaremongering perhaps?

good price
#5
Same price at Dixons if that helps
#6
Get Currys to pricematch it and you'll get an extra 10% off too, so maybe £143.95?

No they offer 10% of the difference providing they are in stock at the place they are price beating. So on this deal they would beat it by 2 quid :P

Good deal for a new one but the 2nd hand value of these is dropping all the time. I picked a boxed one up for £89.99 with Smash Brothers Brawl and some Beach Sports game in Cash Convertors earlier this week. 40 million of these consoles have been sold and there are only a few decent games so I can't imagine it would be practical to put the price up.

Ain't this the same deal at Morrisons for £160, (probably a lot more accessible ?)
#10
Wow, does it come with wii sports!?
#11
What firmware version do these come with?
#12
you call this a bargain?

Urm what? The only way the price of the Wii (or any games console) will ever go up is if they introduce a new version or a new bundle that has different stuff in the box. They would never just jack up the price to fleece consumers for a bit more money.

The only change coming to the Wii anytime soon is they are bringing out newer, more sensitive Wii controllers that have 100% mapping of all motion rather than approximations, and along with it they are bringing out Wii Sports 2. If there is going to be any shift in price it will be because you are getting this stuff in the box.

Not entirely true... Nintendo recently upped the trade price of the wii by £18 blaming the weak pound, source: http://www.britishgaming.co.uk/?p=2555. This of course is typical nintendo profiteering BS in my opinion since they were never selling the wii at a loss in the first place unlike sony and M$ also like with all technology the price of manufacturing only is getting cheaper, well nintendo was once before found guilty of price fixing in 2002 so y'know old habits and all that.

Also the motionplus system has only ever been confirmed as an add on to existing wii remotes and nintendo haven't mentioned any plans to release new remotes with motionplus built in, the motionplus will probably be sold separate with a copy of wii sports resort, and probably be added as a bundle with the wii console and not inside the box itself, not at first anyway.

179 - 159 = 20...

10% of 20 = 2

so they will beat it by £2.

its also £160 in morrisons (well, it was on saturday anyway)

Good price for a no frills package (without games one wouldn't want IYKWIM) . :) 'HOT' vote added. :)

I love my Wii and was lucky to see the Asda offer on 'Hot Deals' a few wks. back.
