thats what i want to know, whats with these £50 codes and how do you get them.

can i get my mate to make an account then he refers me to marshal/littlewoods is it something like this. would be nice if you can tell us a bit more about this code. thanks

they select certain people to mail and award them the £50 voucher which is on their system and gives them discount other people are using it. then they send a letter days, weeks, or even months down the line stating u were not allowed to use the voucher and claim the £50 back .Same as littlewoods. thats why people are voting cold

The code is only valid for the person it was sent to basically

If they post the item without claiming the extra back it has been held that the contract is complete and they cannot come back to you. If they claim the extra early enough you can return the goods unused within 14 days (or it may be 7?) and they refund you.

That said - declined the code online - might try a call tomorrow when they open.

Don't ever buy anything from Marshall Ward. They are overpriced so the goods are not worth buying without a valid voucher. The trouble is that their website is more than happy to accept virtually any voucher going so that when you go through the checkout and agree to pay one price you'll find that they end up charging you another and trying to do anything about it is like trying to get sense out of a banana. Unless you like serious amounts of hassle and/or work for Trading Standards and want to make an example of them just avoid like the plague.

EDIT: I have to point out that whether you know the voucher is actually valid or not doesn't seem to matter. Obviously a normal approach from a reputable company would be to cancel your order if they felt you weren't entitled to use a particular code or advise you that you would have to pay the full price if you wished to continue with the order. However, we're talking about Marshall Ward and they don't bother with little details like adhering to contract law or anything like that.
