1 of the best albums ever made!!

Great price. Bought it in several different formats, the best being 12" picture disc in a small record shop in Lille when I was in France a few years ago. Paid 10 euro, and have since been offered wildly higher amounts... it's still in my record box though.

no way. if u said incesticide i could see where you were coming from with the obvious complaints about puppets covers but utero does have some blinding tracks but also some that only ever see the skip button. In this way Nevermind is much greater, every track is consistently brilliant. Overshadowed only by its later popularity...

Smells like Freshers Week

The debut 'Bleach' is vastly better. Raw, angry, and primal; any hormonal teenage boy without a girlfriend can relate to it. I was appalled when 'Nevermind' came out and suddenly they had turned into a kind of a Def Leppard with art pretensions.Heat for price though, and the quite good 'Lounge Act'.

Out of interest which do you consider to be the skipable tracks on In Utero?

Seriously? It's not that great a price for this old of a cd. If you wanted this album you would have got it years ago anyway.

If anything the modern rubbish should be cheaper.

Nah.

Love all the armchair music critics on here!! Who should we listen to... professional musicians, artists, journalists and critics who have regularly been rating Nevermind as one of the greatest albums of all time for the last 19 years? Or some insignificant guy sat at home posting on the internet? Hmmmmm.... *scratches chin*.

lol this album and nirvana in general are massively over rated, if cobain didn't put a bullet through his head then nobody would even care about them now.

There's been tosh in every musical generation, its about actually finding genuine decent bands, not told who to like (I.e. nirvana).

Sorry to burst the bubble, but journalists and critics are pretty much salaried armchair critics. Even so, Rolling Stone gave it an average review on release and I can't think off the top of my head who agrees that it's one of the 'top 5 albums of all time'.

So hold your indignation my fellow 'armchair critic' (actually it's an office chair from which I am typing today) - honestly, it's a decent album but I much prefer Ten and Temple of the Dog in this genre.

For it to be top 5 of all time I'd have to ignore so many Beatles albums, let alone other groups. I actually agree with the other guy who said that it benefits from Cobain committing suicide.

Even then, it's not in my 'top 5 albums by members of the 27 club'.

The thing is, this CD is obviously never one of the top albums of all time. The only reason people say that is because of the cultural significance behind it. As an album alone it doesn't warrant a top 5 of all time. I would say though that a top 5 albums of all time is always going to be completely subjective, so its all a little pointless anyway.

Really? I can't think of many better albums from the 27 club. Although I'm not a big Doors fan to be honest.

Indeed, I don't like the fact that you are told to like Nirvana. Don't get me wrong, Nevermind is a brilliant album but its not up there with the best albums of all time.

I does make me wonder though, how artists get immortalised upon their premature death. I cannot talk really though, I love Marc Bolan. Would he be so idolised if he did not have that car crash?

ok maybe what i should have said was easily of of MY top five albums of all time. For example I would ignore everything by the beatles, Oasis and various other popular acts that are over inflated grandeur. Maybe if you wern't about (and by that i mean of the age when music is one of the most important things in life) when nevermind was released then it probably wont mean as much to you. I love Ten (defo one of my faves) but it wasn't nearly as instrumental (heh) to me as nirvana's albums as a teenager. I never at any point told anyone they should own this - i wouldnt say that cos if someone told me i had to own Sgt. formulaic's they would get a backfist. If i did the same i'd expect the same. I merely commented on the thread to show MY appreciation of the album. Next time i think ill re-iterate....
