looking for a cheap webcam so kids can chat to long distance friends so will have a look tomorrow thanks

100k resolution? IIRC serial black and white webcams of 1995 had higher resolution than this. buying this encourages cheap rubbish to be produced from China. cold !

If they're your kids, spend a little extra and get them something half decent.

Half decent webcams aren't expensive.

I think these are USB 1.1. No idea is that matters though, just put me off a few weeks ago when I saw one for £1.97.

Especially if it's their friends they will be speaking to and not just random people on chatrooms.

i bought one from blackbur last week, they are really crappy webcams, even in direct light, the contrast is awful, but for that price you can chuck em away!!!

pcworld had some of the extact same ones on the shelf not too far away for £9.99.................

Exposing oneself on the internet has never been so cheap.

Ended up buying my lad lego NXT to get him started, pretty good stuff, if he gets more interested in it will look into getting involved in this myself.

I've done some stuff like robotic arms. For this price I can look into adding vision to it :) the thing is anything with vision is going to be tied to a more powerful comp. so, it doesn't have to be stand-alone, so ideal for my latest arm :)

I'd say it's worth it if you have the time.
