Llewlyn Moss, hunting antelope near the Rio Grande, stumbles upon a transaction gone horribly wrong. Finding bullet-ridden bodies, several kilos of heroin, and a caseload of cash, he faces a choice - leave the scene as he found it, or cut the money and run. Choosing the latter, he knows, will change everything. And so begins a terrifying chain of events, in which each participant seems determined to answer the question that one asks another: how does a man decide in what order to abandon his life?'"No Country For Old Men" is a compelling, harrowing, disturbing, sad, endlessly surprising and resonant novel' - "Spectator". '"No Country For Old Men" is a severed head and shoulders over anything else written in America this year' - "Independent on Sunday". 'A Western thriller with a racy plot and punchy dialogue, perfect for a lazy Sunday' - "The Times". 'An utterly absorbing, chilling tale ...One of the most sinister characters in modern American fiction' - "Herald". 'A fast, powerful read, steeped with a deep sorrow about the moral degradation of the legendary American West' - "Financial Times".

The ending of the movie is dreadful but its one saving grace was always "but thats how the book ends". I guess it doesn't work any better in the book either.

I would implore everyone to also read The Road, by McCarthy - it really is a fantastic book - not easy going (emotionally), but definately a must read..........

It is £2.99 @ Amazon at the moment - http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0330447548/bookbrain

(as is this one, so you could get both for £6 with free delivery)

Yeah, The Road is stunning. One of the best books I've read in a while. Immensely powerful.

This has inspired me to buy The Border Trilogy by Cormac McCarthy also (fed up waiting in vain on Bookmooch)

Best price again @ Amazon - £7.69

Heat for this deal, and rep for reminding me to pick up some more great reading material.............

Is this the book of the film? Or was it the other way round. The film is brilliant, ending is pretty confusing though. True Coen Brothers style
#8

Cheers for heads up on the books everyone.

It was supposed to be a bad ending. It was so ridiculously ambiguous that it allowed the audience to create their own interpretations and made way to many different theories. Oh yeah, and its how the book ends.

Oh well, order cancelled.

By the way, in the new "Hannibal" film, he comes out of the closet as a vegetarian;-)

Chill out guys... he just said it was ambiguous - he didn't say what happens.

I thought I had nodded off and missed something, the film just seemed to be going along then suddenly the end titles, had to rewind the film to check :-(

OH MY GOD WHAT A DREADFUL FILM!!!

Only my opinion I know, but Jesus it really is awful.

Save your money, even if you do like it you'll only ever watch it once, it's too slow to watch twice.

Oh, and for those who thought someone gave away the ending...

... trust me thats impossible!

The book has an ending ?

"Well that settles it, this place gets no more of my business"

This movie is of an aquired taste. It's set in the mid-seventies, which I don't think a lot of viewers will understand.

I think you really need to like America, or it's culture to enjoy it. Having said that "Dead Mans Shoes"
(Shane Meadows) mirrors it to some degree and is a movie that hardly appeals to most American movie goers.

They're both odd, but very good if you can get into the mind-set of the charectors. As said in Monty Pythons, The Holy Grail.......... "I must get into my Idiom"

Quote "Do you have any idea, just how crazy you really are?" ( Woody Harrelson )

Hot.

Thanks for backing me up. Seems that people don't like the prospect of knowing the slightest thing about anything. So much hate in the world...

You read English?

Someone stated the movies ending, and he stated "That's how the book ends".

Pfft.

Well the movie was supposed to be an adaptation, but I never read the book so it could be different.
