Firstly credit must go to IrishGypsy on MSE for finding this one.

I went to the Virgin Mobile stand in Zavvi in Reading today and got myself a brand new Nokia 1112 for only £2.50. This deal is for existing Virgin PAYG customers - I had to give my Virgin mobile number. You get no simcard & no credit but you do get a brand new phone. The phone costs £7.49 with a sim.

CeX are paying £10 for this model (on Virgin) or £15 if you get it unlocked (or you could get a bit more on Ebay!).

Yes Magic_monkey, although the guy didn't do any checking on my mobile number (just wrote it in a book) - so you may be able to give any number ;-) (but I didn't tell you that!)
#3
Do they take down any of your details? Or would you be able to do this more than once in different stores?

For all you people asking about virgin mobile stands. Yes all Zavvi stores will have a Virgin mobile stand. I currently work for Zavvi and some stands will input your old mobile number to be checked but mostly won't as they need sale desperately.
#17
why are people discussing whether it is dual band, is it worth it......etc, its only £2.50!!!!! whats to discuss! get your a$$ to the shop and get buying.

why do they desperatly need to sell phones for 2.50, which are easily unlockable and will most likely not be used on virgin?

surely thats a loss waiting to hapen, selling with a sim is more likely gonna get them a customer, people see 2.50 and buy buy buy, at 7.50, youve paid a fiver for the sim, and it seems like a waste not to use it?
#19
Will give a shot tomorrow at my Zavvi! :-D !!! Heat added!! Cheers M8! :)
#20
if u can get a free unlocking code off nokiafree, cex give you 15 notes ;)
#21
CEX deals sounds great, but just a reminder to londoners, apprently they dont have cash to pay for the items at the momnent???????? they can only give u cex credit. this applied to all inner london stores i think.
#22
Note these cannot be unlocked free through nokiafree etc.

I did ask the sales guy if my mobile no. was going to be used for marketing purposes and he said no it was just taken because I was buying an upgrade.

Just went to the Virgin Mobile stand in Zavvi in London, Bishopgate Street. The sale lady told me that Nokia 1112 only sell for £11.24 for existing virgin customer, no such thing like £5 or £2.50. So weird!

Yeah I got that the first time I went into the Reading branch. You may have to try again, 2nd time around I found a guy who knew what he was doing and got it for £2.50!
#27
ok, will try again. But the sales lady told me that they will not do further discount for this type of phone since that's the cheapest price they can provide, even though I had explained that other branches can sell £2.50 for this phone....
#28
Went into 2 seperate Virgin mobile / Zavvi stores - both say that this deal does not exist. The cheapest its available for is £7.49 inc a Virgin Sim
#29
Yes, can't find £5 or £2.50 deals. I have called few Virgin mobile stores and they said the price is £7.49 for existing virgin customer
#30
nothing happening at my virgin store. think this might be a one off or something.
#31
Thanks to the OP :)
Just walked into Zavvi in York and paid £2.50 for a brand new Nokia 1112.
You star OP
IT WORKS...............in York anyway !!!!!!!!!
#32
The offer is definitely on as i`ve just come back from Reading with 2 Nokia 1112`s for the total sum of £5.00.....the price tag on the display showed £7.49 with a sim card , but when i told the assistant i already had 2 sims he said that would make each phone only £2.50 ....bargain !!!
#33
just got 2 from zavvi in sheffield city center. each required a different virgin moible number.
thanks to the op
#34
This must change depending on the store. Mine would only do it for £5 but that included a free SIM with £5 airtime already on it. So for £5 I got a phone + SIM + £5 airtime.

I could have bought this and then immediately bought another using the number off the SIM I had just bought....and then bought another using that number.....etc, etc until he had run out of stock. Then, I suppose, nipped over to CEX and sold all of them for a tenner each.

But I didn't because all I wanted was a backup phone and I think it's wrong to monopolise a deal so nobody else gets a look-in.
#35
got charged a fiver :x, without sim.
#36
This offer has now been pulled due to box breakers taking the mick! Phone is now £9.99 with no existing customer discount!

what are box breakers?

omg! What a rip off! lol it's still only £5 for a brand new mobile phone! :gift:
#39
cheers hot deal might pick one up for a mate
#40
Box breakers are people who have no intention of using the phone on the network they buy it from therefore the company doesn't profit from these customers. They make money on the credit they sell not the sale of handsets as they take a big loss on these. Box breakers are mainly people who buy them to send abroad or to sell on market stalls for a higher mark up! So because of this the offer has been pulled spoiling it for all the genuine customers out there!!
