ok if you want REALLY basic phone. (dont buy it for your kids or they might kill you for the shame LOL)

I think I may have to get one of these tomorrow as a temporary phone, as I had an incident yesterday involving my iPhone,
can anyone confirm these work on the o2 network? :)
#4
ASDA mobiles are not unlocked, however they can take vodafone sims since ASDA uses vodafone's network. So this phone would probably work on ASDA and vodafone sim and not on any other network. Correct me if I am wrong though.

From ASDA Mobile webpage : "Asda phones are open to any network"

Although on their website, this phone is showing at £25 ??

I'm sure your right, however can i just point out at the bottom of the advert you kindly put on here it says "Locked to the Asda Mobile Network".

People might want to ask before they buy to confirm the Asda webpage statement.

Certainly does and surely their phones are unlikely to be unlocked as they have to try to recover the subsidy they put on them, just like every other operator?

op pls update title to remove the word unlocked. this phone is locked to asda.

What made me smile was people buying this £13 phone as backup for their unreliable iPhones costing twenty times as much. Jeez. I'm so pleased I'm not so hooked on image and style that I have to buy two of everything - one to look good and the other to get the job done!

For me, a nice enough find.

The better deal IMO

Link to the above offer:

Unsure how easy this may be to unlock tho, if it is indeed locked to a network!

I've always thought that if ASDA are pushing their SIMS in the stores with the 8p per min phone calls they should have a cheap phone on offer to buy when you buy the ASDA SIM.

If it works that's the main thing and if a cheap phone gets lost or stolen you just buy another one.

It's a bit like students who buy cheap bikes sos if they disappear they just get another one.

WHAT! I was thinking of getting an iphone - what's all this about (plus the other poster with the "incident") - it's starting to sound like a liability now. What's the "monthly silly beggar games?"

Couldn't agree more, but then I've reached the age where the main feature I need is buttons big enough to see them!
#20
Can't find this via the link. Cheapest phone I can find is £22..?
#21
Me neither, it's showing as £25 for me...
#22
Even if these phones are locked, they are the type that you can unlock yourself at home for free by putting a code in which costs nothing
#23
its a good offer but there's cheaper handsets in the market which have exactly the same functionality
#24
by the way - I just checked the offer and its appearing as £25

Anything can go wrong...

what's the final verdict? can the phone be unlocked or not?

What a sad world we live in!
#30
So what is the cheapest unlocked phone available anywhere at the moment then?
#31
Is it easier to unlock a cheap phone than an expensive phone ?
#32
probably is unlocked to 900mhz spectrum i.e vodaphone and o2

probably is unlocked to 900mhz spectrum i.e vodaphone and o2

Is that fact or are you just adding to unhelpful speculation?
#34
i'd like to know about the unlock too, any whizzkids online who know the answer?
#35
I've worked with Asda Mobile branded mobiles, and if this is being sold with an Asda Mobile Simcard, then it is pretty such guaranteed to be locked.
#36
For all those saying they cant get this offer on their website...thats because the offer isnt on their website. From the image on this thread im assuming its a instore offer. And i rang asda mobile customer services to transfer my old number, and the woman i chatted to said the lines were really hectic because everyone was after this particular offer.
Heres the number if anyone needs it: 0845 3666990
Its worth a go, not sure about delivery charges though.
#37
Bought two in Kingsthorpe Store on Monday.£13 each
They had loads of stock

Thanks for this hdizzle, I only live 5mins away from my nearest store so never really thought about the website when posting.
An alternative to calling the 0845 number is : 01132 419 833 and ask for mobile support/customer services. :)
