http://www.mobilegazette.com/nokia-2630-1650-07x05x07.htm - Review of the Nokia 1650.

It's a pretty basic phone. But for the price you are getting a bargain. I purchased the Nokia 1650 on Talkmobile PAYG instore. Yes you have to pay £10 aswell for credit but at the end of the day you get the phone unlocked then and you can always find somewhere or someone to take the credit?

Nice slim phone, decent screen and FM radio is handy for down the park. Comes with headphones. Keypad is dust/splashproof. I'd certainly rather take this down the beach than my Nokia 5310 anyways.

The 'direct link' is just to the general deal. But this is something I did instore. The Talkmobile international tariffs arent too bad if you were to use it for that. Smart looking phone.

Stores 250 texts, upto 8 hours talktime, screen is much clearer than usual cheap phones (far better than the 1208 in terms of clarity and colour) and I've put Orange, O2, Virgin and talkmobile sims in to check that it is unlocked. No network logos or menus.

£5 if go through Quidco, too. Good deal!!!

I suck with Quidco, someone needs to educate me on it! Only risk is that the talkmobile deal isn't listed on the website so you'd have to risk buying the Virgin Sim and it still being unlocked?

Is quidco only for when u purchase online? I think if i get it i'll buy too much stuff and I really dont have that kinda money hehe. This one was a little bargain though. Really nice secondary phone but I don't see much wrong with it being a main phone for most people!

im not sure if quidco covers this phone. most phones under £15 sometimes dont get tracked or get declined. has happened many many times before.

Hmmm

Click on the specifications and it says it doesn't work in the USA and it doesn't do vibration alert or MMS. Yet on the front page it says it does work in the USA.

On the Nokia website it has no mention of triband either

http://europe.nokia.com/A4403336

No bluetooth, but looks like a nify little phone if like me you only want to do calling and texting. Good battery life too. Voted hot, but the CPW website needs to be more accurate.

hey do you guys know if the £10 top-up voucher actually comes as a voucher? or is it pre-loaded onto the sim?
#15
Just so I understand it, if you buy instore on Talkmobile network, you pay £20 for an unlocked Nokia 1650 (+credit)?

I think it was preloaded to the sim. Bit of a shame that one! She scanned the sim pack and looks like she just applies the £10 that way. I'm guessing that means it is registered in my name?

Yes and if you buy it online you get exactly the same deal, EXCEPT the fact that you can have it on T-Mobile or Virgin for that price.
They can't sell Talkmobile on their website so they drop the prices of the 'bigger' networks in order to make up for it.

Hope this helps? :)

Yep thats what I did. Nokia 1650 listed at £9.95. When paying by debit/credit card you add £10 credit taking your total to £19.95.

If you want to pay by cash you have to pay £20 credit which would make your total £29.95. This is common that if you pay by cash they want you to pay for more credit! I wanted the Nokia 2630 on Orange instore but it appears that instore they wanted £20 credit when paying by card! If you want to see that deal check my deal history, think it was my second listed deal...

Thanks for that people. Already been and picked it up for a family member.

Just to clarify agentjohn and samuraibush further, the phone actually comes in the same packaging as an offline phone (i.e. unbranded and fully unlocked) with a separate sim card handed to you with the credit on. Don't know if that would be the case with a t-mobile or virgin phone bought online.
#20
yeah my sim pack was separate and the phone is clearly unbranded and just a standard simfree nokie phone. just noticed there is no MMS so unfortunately cannot be used with blyk!
#21
is any PAY AS U GO phone from CPW goes unlocked?? thanks
#22
Its my second phone from there, but both times I've bought talkmobile with them as I don't think they can lock a phone to talkmobile? i'm not sure. There are some ppl on hotukdeals who work for CPW and say most phones are unlocked.

I've got a blyk sim - its actually a good thing that it doesn't support mms! Means you get the free texts/minutes without receiving ads ;)

I found this out because my Nokia 6500 wasn't recognised by their system as being an MMS handset....talk about a schoolboy error :P

There have been articles in the financial press about how everyone is just turning off their mms in order not to receive adverts.....making the longevity of the blyk business model rather questionable!!

All I've recieved from Blyk is a couple of questions which you can reply to for fun. Quite random. Not that fussed about recieving them.

So you've moved you Blyk Sim into the Nokia 1650? From what I understand you can't download the required MMS settings to the phone if it has no MMS menus?? Or did you set it up on a different phone then move it accross? Gah, I dont like texting on the Nokia 1650 anywaysss...:)
