I am officially dodgy...

"Thank you for purchasing from Phones4u.

Your order is being detained pending additional security checks.

Please contact the Web Support team on 0870 905 0416 (Calls are charged
at a national rate and lines are open Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 18:00)
we can then perform the required checks.

If no contact has been made with a web support representative within 3
working days of your order being placed, it will be automatically
cancelled. You will be notified by e-mail if this occurs."

They seem to send these emails out automatically...I believe its a ploy to get you to phone their 0870 number as in most cases they then issue a cleared email within a day or so.

As for the phone....ok for a childs mobile but Ive never been a fan of this model or the 2650. The screen is small, I dont like the lack of response from the sealed keyboard (particularly poor for texting) and its now feeling its age compared to more recent models. A basic and unusual looking handset at a good price though.

Oh and watch your Quidco cashback from Phones4u.......mine tracked on a purchase last year only to be declined after 2 months and it took Quidco almost 8 months to finally get them to cough up.

I've just tried to buy one, when I try to enter my postcode (OX13UJ), it tells me such a postacode doesn't exist and doesn't allow me to proceed.

Any idea what I could do?

PS. Oh dear, am I oficially homeless according to them?
#10
It's not a system error, as my postcode works OK. I've no suggestions I'm afraid, sorry :-(

Hi,

Buy the Nokia phone via quidco, making it £5.00

Now some years ago you used to get 1000 clubcard points per working phone!
Sadly its now 300 points but £1 goes to a charity.

300 x 4 ( using the club card deals ) = 1200 points

So you make a profit of £7 per phone & £1 goes to charity

You'd need each phone to be ordered in one transaction...

'For every mobile phone you donate,
Tesco’s charity of the year, Whizz-Kidz
(see right) will receive a minimum of
£1 to spend on much-needed mobility
equipment for disabled kids, while you’ll
be rewarded for your generosity with
300 Clubcard points for each working
phone, or 50 points for a mobile that
doesn’t work.
If you don’t have a Clubcard, or are
happy to forfeit your points, Whizz-Kidz
will receive £4 for each working phone you
send in and £1.50 for each mobile that
doesn’t work.'

Just to add a note to Orange PAYG phones, after orderingMotorola "Black" L6 on my current PAYG sim and activating the phone and waiting 72hours afterward, I was supposed to get £10 credit, everyone should on the £10 voucher purchase mandatory phones be it on a new or current one.

I got £30 credited to me :w00t: ... I was barely going to use the £10 credit... I hope orange credit doesn't have an expiry time like 3... ;)

I was thinking about that, and as it's such a big one in relation to the cost, I'm not going to chase this up on the off chance that the cashback gets messed-up in the verification process, plus I'm principled (stubborn) like that.

Yes, it's £5 per transaction not per phone.

Actually Phones4U is quite prompt, most companies take at least half a day to appear and some take a couple of weeks. And some like Orange nearly always have to be claimed.

Also, with some phone providers, you need to make a call before they'll pay out. So if you buy a cheap phone for the glove box/emergencies, make one short phone call first.

No longer in stock.

Just to advise that if you were buying one of these to use your own Orange sim card in or to unlock it and use another sim (or god forbid try and sell the unlocked handset) these do not come with a removeable sim card. The orange sim is inside the phone and is not exchangeable for another sim card at all!

I'm afraid your wrong, simcard fits into a slot on the side of the phone very easily changed in fact

Got a voicemail from Phones4U, asking me to call them back regarding my order (which is currently doing detention).

Quidco ironically has it tracked, will I call them back? Probably not.

If I select paypal as my quidco payment will it cost me 3.4% + 20p?

My paypal account is a premium account.

Yes it will, better off having paid into your bank by BACS
#31
indeed.....
#32
bacs is such a relief it only costs like 5p and is so much quicker (and cheaper) than what paypal used to be, and sometimes it comes as a suprise when you get money coming into your account :)

thanks ordered this, so hopefully will receive it soon :)

this is unlockable for free (via codes) so you can use it on any network :)

I ordered one and got that silly phone us for security checks email. I've got better things to do than chase this company around trying to prove I am who I say I am.

Will quidco honour my money if this company cancels my order? Also how long does it take for quidco to pay the first installment, I think I'll use BACs if it is only 5 pence, paypal get way too much of my money as it is.

Mine was delivered to my house the other day via Special Delivery.

Can't mess around with it as I'm at uni at the moment :)
Its a nice little pressie for my mum.

Hello, thanks for that.

However, I've tried there but there doesn't seem to be an option to select a nokia2652 on the drop down menu? :-(
#40
Gremlin - Thanks for the offer. I've tried sending you a PM but your inbox is full apparently. The PM I tried to send was:

Hello there,

Would you mind at all helping me out unlocking the 2652? I've tried codes twice now and they've both been wrong so I'm cautious about trying again without any guidance.

Many thanks in advance.

B
