So far the cheapest PAYG Nokia 5530 I have seen.... The phone itself is brilliant, its got kinetic scrolling (iPhone like), 434mhz CPU (same as N97), and also runs the same Symbian Operating System as N97. comes with 4GB microSD card, can get up to 16GB.

Its quite snappy, unlike the Nokia 5800 and a tad bit thinner than it. It doesnt sport GPS or 3G, but has Wifi, EDGE, which in my opinion is okay, because 3G is gonna set you back atleast 7.5gbp/ month and most of them cap you at 1gb/month which is ridiculous.

ALSO £10 via Quidco for a despatched PAYG handset

That's the 5800 then you need.

New Nokia touch phone X6, N97 Mini announced, uses the same OS and the same CPU, adds GPS, 5MP, 3G, but costs 4 times the 5530, I think its a rip off to buy zese phones, which clearly is just a little better (hardware wise) and charges us way too much. If you get the 5530 now, its likely that this OS is going to rule the Nokia touchscreens for all the upcoming models.. meaning you are up to date ( to some extent )

Regards paying for 3G, I'm with 3 mobile company on PAYG. Every time I buy a £10 top up, I get free texts and 100mb of free 3G allowance. Plenty enough for web browsing and checking facebook...

Nice phone though, despite the shortcomings....

problem with these phones there replaced so quick and then they drop like crazy but this seems a good price right now, who wants gps anyways bad enough now were being watched and monitored....

Great looking phone, got one for my teenage son on the 12-month contract deal, he loves it. Touchscreen very responsive, near-iPod touch quality, certainly better than my LG renoir.

It's only been less than 1-2months since Nokia N97 was launched, you will soon find more and more Nokia phones with similar technology as this phone and N97. If I was you, hold on till X'mas or little later you will swamped with many more phones.

It's not the GPS in the phone that's the problem if you're worried about being traced. Every mobile phone is akin to tracking/homing device regardless of if it has a GPS built in or not. If you're worried about the history of where you've been being exposed then switch off your mobile. The police regularly use mobile phone data in criminal investigations to trace where a person has been.

Are these phones still branded to Vodafone, but unlocked. So using on T-mobile do you still get the Vodaphone Live branding or just a standard browser. Is the browser any good on this phone?
Whats the battery life like? Thanks.

Were they ever branded to Vodafone? Mine certainly wasn't. Nor was it locked. The browser is good on this phone, but get Opera Mini 5 (currently still in beta) and it's a fantastic browsing experience.
Battery life it somewhat disappointing for me (I came from a SE k750i which lasted for about 4 or 5 days on a charge with normal use), but then I do quite a lot with the phone whether it's mp3 playing, streaming internet radio, or browsing so it's normal that battery life isn't going to be terrific. With heavy use you won't get much more than a day. With normal use just over 2 days i'd say.
