Depends what you're looking for in both phones really.

The 5800 has a slightly larger screen(3.2"), 3G and GPS whereas this has a 2.9" screen, no 3G and no GPS. Is slightly smaller than the 5800.

Sits below 5800 in the product range and if you don't require the extra features then this is best bet value-wise...also looks better too!

main difference are that
5800 processor has a clock speed of around 285mhz while 5530 has a slightly faster processor of 350mhz (meaning you wait less time to open the applications)
But,

you have no 3G in 5530 (if you have unlimited data plan then 5800 wins)
You have no AGPS in 5530
#7
not sure if it is unlocked or not.
#8
I was with Vodafone but changed to Asda, far cheaper on payg. The ironic thing is that Asda use the Vodafone network!

Would my Asda sim card work ok in this, seeing it uses Vodafone's network.

Thanks

No, 5530 has a 434Mhz processor like the N97, 5800 has 369Mhz processor like 6120 and 6124.

All use the same ARM 11 processors but clocked at different speeds. So this should be faster than the 5800.

hi,

sorry rash your wrong there,
yes 5530 has a 434 Mhz processor like the n97 and the 5800 did have a 369Mhz processor but when it got the FW update to v20 its processor is also 434Mhz
and here is proof:

click here and go to general and you shall see.

kind regards

I would agree with you.
Fat better features and much better than LG Cookie is not it? if LG Cookie is 100 pounds worth then sheeling out another 30 quids for this to get a wifi and Nokia touchscreen is really worth it....dont forget nokia is throwing in a 4 gb memory card too.

Oh didn't know that, no wonder its a little faster.
#15
Not initially clear from the offer but this is locked to Vodaphone, correct?
#16
this price in positive way to buyers leads to the phone being cheaper on ebay, even though currently it isnt
#17
shame its on vodaphone
#18
£20 more cheaper than nokia 5800 but no gps or 3g...
#19
plus it comes with 4gb, whereas the 5800 comes with 8gb
#20
nice looking phone heat added but I am more interested in the nokia 5800 shame it's only the refurb ones at £20 more as I want all the bits and pieces shame dixons is out of stock was good offer
#21
Carephone warehouse has these in stock at certain stores avail on payg Prices are

O2 - £149.00 including £10 topup
Virgin - £139.00 including £10 topup

If your already on o2 or virgin take off the £10 top up

Sim free unbranded stock as per usual cpw phones

Got this phone this morning my 2p worth over at whatmobile forums

It is fantastic if you dont need 3G (i dont see the point if you have wifi if you need mobile web 3G still aint the best on a handset best buy a netbook) and no gps (all phones iv had i use it for 5 mins then never use gps again this has the app installed you just need an external bluetooth gps if you really want it)

Its so much faster than the 5800 the contacts bar can now hold more than 4 and the camera is fantastic for 3mp also video rec is MP4 640 X 480 30FPS lovely

Absolutly wonderful handset it doesnt have a case with it but you get 4GB card and good earphones. I would recomend a case but cpw have an own brand one that i swear was made for this phone beacuse it fits perfectly links at whatmobile.

Also this is built well no creaks etc its solid (the battery cover moves an absolute min amont but the sesign wouldnt allow for anything else) its certainly not going to come off Im just nit picking so you guys know.

I highly recomend this though.

I know English to very good extent (certainly not perfect 4 only 1 year staying) But I do not have enough time to waste it in such rubbish reading about something that in infinity.

So I ask who can BENIGNLY provide me with the essence of this article.

Use Nokia phone updater from Nokia PC suite.

Good price but crap phone. I got one for my husband and he hates it, freezes all the time and then loses what he was doing.

Was this the 5530 or the 5800 as the 5530 has only been out since yest
#28
The 5530 is more like a 5800 Lite in my opinion. This does not replace the 5800.
#29
Its definatly not to replace the 5800 but i wish the 5800 was built as well as the 5530 i mean nokia know the top right corner of 5800's have a gap where light from the screen shows through but have done nothing to fix it instead hey have built the 5530 better.

If you need gps, 3G, dont mind the size and gap at the the top corner go for the 5800
Im just to fussy about build quality but thats just me i know that.

if you dont need 3G and gps go for the 5530 as its slightly more pocket friendly. Put it this way for around the same money what are you getting

Sony c510
Samsung tocco
LG GW520
lg secret

and they are not as well rounded as this handset. It simply fills a gap in the market for smart phones and does it very well

I have a 5800. Definitely no gap in the top right hand corner of mine. No light leakage at all. Also I have installed NavMii and it has replaced my TomTom for navigation.

Send it back, I told them about the gap in mine and they fixed it.

I haven't taken the order through completely, but it still allowed me to add to basket and go to checkout. Still valid today ?

according to this review the 5530 does have gps!:
http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/nokia-5530-xpressmusic-624950/review?artc_pg=10
It just doesn't have any software installed to make use of it, out the box, aparently

I think that must be a mistake in their review.
