Just got a brilliant deal from Vodafone for Nokia 5800 which averages out at £17.77 a month, but you will have to be quick...
I seen an already great deal for this phone on this site with Voda using quidco (I also commented there), and phoned voda direct to see if they could match it (to include quidco discount).
They couldn't give the quidco discount, but discounted me £50 cause my wife is an existing customer, I got 10 months half price line rental and... get this... (and this is why you have to be quick).... cause voda are currently out of stock on this phone (for about a week they say), they will credit my account with another £50 for the inconvenience of waiting a week.... AWESOME !!!!!!!!

You just can't beat this deal anywhere - I know cause I have been checking this phone and deal for about 2 months now.

Here's the numbers.....

It's a £40 month contract for 18 months. 18 x 40 = £720
But you get 15 months half price. 15 x 20 = £300. So £720 - £300 = £420.
Customer discount is £50. So £420 - £50 = £370
Inconvenience discount is £50. So £370 - £50 = £320
£320 divided by 18 (length of contract) = £17.77

I had to call and ask about deals, so I don't think this deal is on the voda site. If it is then you can potentially do this deal without being a customer - quidco give £90 on voda deals, but obviuosly you don't get customer or inconvenience discounts.

I also asked about any other discounts they could give - there answer was to give me a free nokia bluetooth head set with deal - so it is worth asking.

Another point worth mentioning is that you can upgrade your phone in month 16 and potentially negotiate a cheaper contract - this means (again potentially), that you will not pay the £40 a month for months 16, 17 and 18.

Seems you got someone on a good day there with those discounts. May try myself as I want/need a new phone badly and the 5800 is currently my top choice.

Also £40 base cost seems a bit much ?.

I think you've done well.

I got the £35 deal with 10 months half price with the £120 quidco, which works out at around just end 19quid a month, I did try to negotiate a deal as a current customer but couldn't so started off as a new customer.

IS going direct the the providers the best course to take ?. For a while I was set on Phones4u . Then I got put of by the 24 month, then I wanted PAYG as I don't use it that much and can wifi the phone etc..I could go on and on.

Basically I want the 5800 on the cheapest shortest contract and I am so indecisive about it. :( Effective cost means nothing much to me as I will struggle paying much more than £25 per month.

Phones4U T-mobile miles better, 300min 200txts £15pm for 12 months.

Thats 360 total, less 150 redemption and 30 quidco = £15pm for 12 months

This deal is 324 over the 18 months which is 144 more, more mins etc. However, not everyone uses all those mins/texts, I could never.

What about unlimited internet?

What about unlimited internet?

Most places I go I can access their wifi for free (why would I want to pay for the internet on a phone?!), only time I can think of is to use satnav and I have one of those and it doesnt charge me to use it. You can add internet to the t-mobile package for £5pm I seem to recall which is still effectively cheaper over the term of the contract.

Phones 4 u NOT miles better.

I looked at the deal you talk about you only get 300 mins and 200 txts and if you want to have internet it is another £5 a month.
That brings the T-mobile deal (with phones 4 u) to £20 a month.

This is double the mins with unlimited txts and internet for £17.77.

So for an extra £2.77 you get double the mins with unlimited txts and internet over the phones for u T-mobile deal.

I would say that is MILES better that the phones for u T-mobile deal.

I told you - I have checked ALL the deals out there - this is the BEST

Everyone has different usage levels and needs..I know I'd rather pay £2.77 a month more (if the deal works) and have access to my email everywhere I go. You also get double minutes and unlimited texts.

T-mobile is 12 months not 18 like your "deal", there will be miles better phones in 18 months. I would rather not be tied in for an extra 6 months and paying heavily for it.

Phones will be better / packages will be cheaper and better and youll be stuck on the same phone for 6 months paying more than I will with a older phone than I will have.

As said before most dont ever use that many minutes / texts in a month and dont need internet on their phone when they can use wifi for FREE!

And if you add internet its £240 over the term.

Check your heat, seems most agree!

Rang Voda myself to find some other deals and was told at every point that I would not get the £50 inconvenience discount. No offers either on X months at a reduced cost.

My luck as always. May just get the 5800 from a cataloge if I can find a good voucher methinks.

Just to make you aware - This deal already includes internet - there is nothing more to pay - the numbers and details are as said at top of post.
Further to this, I have checked all deals out there - I would rather have had a 12 month deal but currently if you want the best phones with any real amount of usage the delas on offer are 24 month ones not 12 month ones.
I would think that for an extra couple of quid you are better getting more not less and that gives you the freedom of usage, and not constantly thinkin about how much you have left.
There are also deals out there with only 100 mins and 100 txts and cost more than this deal.

I still think it's good if not the best in terms of getting best value for money.
