The Nokia 5800 will be available sim free with all-you-can-eat music service Comes with Music from this Friday at the Nokia Flagship store on Londons Regent Street. Itll also be available for the same price, £299, at the Nokia store online. Whats more, the first 100 customers through the door between midday and 1pm on Friday will be able to snag a 50 per cent discount, providing they hand over two old devices.

If you fancy picking up the half price sim free version though, you just need to bring two old devices (make sure one of them is an MP3 device - Nokia will even accept an old iPod as collateral!) and £149.50 in hard cash (or card) and youll walk out with a brand new Nokia 5800 and a years worth of Comes with Music. Now, thats not a bad deal.

Cheapest you can get it for at CPW is £199 plus £10 top-up and it doesn't include a years worth of Free music downloads as this offer does, besides it only works out at £149.50 so its an amazing deal.

Not so sure about that...

1) Comes with music is a DRM-infested service that severly limits your use of that music (without DRM it'd be a fantastic service but as it is...)

2) You have to trade in two devices, including an MP3 capable device without a clear definition of 'device'. Assuming they're not going to take ten year old mobiles in this deal (or £5 MP3 players) then that's an extra cost to you.

3) For the standard 5800 over a hundred people queued up overnight. Your chances of actually getting this deal are not great and will involve several hours of your time queing - another cost, albeit in time rather than money.

4) Buying on-line would also give you potential discounts through vouchers, cashback etc. While it won't be as cheap it also won't involve freezing thy butt off on Regent's Street.

Great handset and better music service. Ipods come with unlimited free music for a year...I think not!

Ok it's DRM at the moment (subject to change) but if you're downloading it for personal use and not to rip burn and copy to everything with a current running through it then you wont be disappointed!

How many albums can you get for £150 let alone the device to play it on, a phone, camera and internet browser??
#6
Well Id say its cold (not voted thouhg). It is DRM infested, bound to get cheaper. Question is do you spend a £150 on albums? If yes then go for it, but if the DRM is not scraped then lose your music after 1 yr.

I'd rather just wait for it to settle down a bit. With both amazon and itunes DRM free (nearly), I don't see how comes with music will survive! Plus standing in line for a 1 hr slot (where yu may or maynot grab this) might not be everyones cup of tea or the most cost efficient way of buying this.

Not voted but cold!

This is a poor deal

THE PHONE ONLY COSTS £149 WHEN YOU PART EXCHANGE TWO OTHER DEVICES OTHERWISE ITS £300
#8
You keep the DRM music forever, not 1 year.

Nokia will go DRM free.

Surely that makes a good deal if there's a chance to get something for 50% off ?

Not really when you could get the 5800 for this price anyway last week on pay as you go

I think you're missing the point the phone alone isn't the deal. It's the CWM bundle. Please revise OP and leave quietly.

The opening post in this thread is misleading as it implies the phone is available at this price standalone - which is not true.

English must not be a forte of yours. The opening post refers to the Comes With Music inclusion with the handset never that it's standalone.

The title of the deal is 'Nokia 5800 Sim-free and 1 years worth of Comes with Music for £149.50'

This implies one is able to purchase the Nokia 5800 sim free with the free music for £149.50. This is not true as you must trade in two devices AS WELL as the cash.

With all due respect, J400UK is right, the title is misleading, you need to trade in items to get this price and even then it's not guaranteed unless you're a) one of the first hundred through the door and b) Nokia take the items you have to offer in exchange which isn't guaranteed. The phone itself is also coming to Orange on a contract deal so it may be worth hanging on for a little while to see what deals come along there.

As for comes with music, the problem comes if Nokia pulls the plug as all your downloaded music becomes useless either immediately or when you need to transfer it to another computer. The argument about 'how many albums can you get for £150' only applies if you ONLY play your music on your phone and a single PC. Otherwise you actually end up paying twice for any music that you want to play on, say, your main stereo, the car cd player or any other place that isn't your phone or pc.

If Nokia make it DRM free it'll be a worthwhile service, until then it's being used mainly by those who rip the DRM off it illegally.

Nokia can't make it DRM free because it's not Nokia's decision. The way Nokia can get the music industry and performing rights to allow unlimited music downloads is by locking each downloaded track to the device IMEI. This means that downloads will only work on the individual CWM phone that originally downloaded.

I use my local charity shops. Hundreds of brilliant CD albums for 50p or £1 each, rip the tracks to mp3 and give to a good cause at the same time.

The title is misleading and you should include in the title "When you trade in two phones"

I agree with J400uk on this issue! You two are simply trying on a con game, trying to lure users to your store under misrepresentation.
