e2save.com have the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music in red for just £149.95 when you buy £10 airtime on Virgin Mobile or T-Mobile pay as you go (total package cost of £159.95). Delivery is FREE of charge (and very, very quick!).

I think that the best price we've seen for this phone on pay as you go here on HUKD is £180 and it's generally about £200, so this is quite the bargain. Because of this, you're probably best off ordering fairly quickly as they'll be pretty popular.

The Nokia 5800 Xpress music mobile phone is the latest in the Xpress Music collection and the first in the series to feature an impressive touchscreen with a huge 8GB of memory. All of your favourite tracks are at your finger tips with the easy-to-use, touch sensitive screen.

Internet browsing has never been so easy with the full on screen QWERTY keypad, this coupled with high speed internet usage, via Wi-Fi or HSDPA means you really will have the web in your pocket all the time! Make getting lost a thing of the past with the full A-GPS support and access to the brilliant Nokia Maps database. You'll get a 8GB microSD card in the box. Plus expandable memory of up to 16GB is available which will allow you to store up to 4,000 of your favourite songs.

Finally plug headphones or speakers into the 3.5mm AV plug to complete your music experience with the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music mobile phone.

why not order and check whether it's unlocked. you have 7 working days to return the phone under long distance selling regulations.

£7 quidco as well.

i bought one of these a while back although not from e2save on the virgin network and it was unlocked and unbranded.

If you buy them direct, yes. As far as I know, e2save just have a "stock" of unlocked clearance phones and whing them out in the post with a random SIM card.
#12
can these be unlocked and to be used on the three network?

Anyone got one of these and care to share their experience with it? I'm in need of a new phone, but really only want to use it for texting and calling. Don't really care for the multimedia end of it, or internet. Is it constantly a qwerty pad or can you switch to number pad? Any major problems with it?

Yes you can use numberpad for text entry etc.. I leave mine on numberpad 99% of the time as i still find it quicker to type uisng numberpad and T9.

Text entry is just as fast as a normal "keyed" phone.

I'm waiting out for the Nokia N97 instead of getting this. I may need to remortgage to afford it though. Hot Hot Hot none the less!
#16

Super. And you are happy with the phone I assume? :)

I'm still using a Nokia 6230i or something lol, 'cos I haven't seen a phone as good as it since so haven't been willing to take the plunge with another, and I'm a cheapy PAYG user. This phone actually looks quite nice though and might be worth a punt - As I said, I text quite a lot, so that's important to me :P

I got one of these phones about a month ago, and have to say I'm really impressed. Have had no problems so far *touch wood*. You can use the normal mobile type keypad, a qwerty keypad or you can use handwriting. It takes a bit of getting used to the touchscreen but I can text just as quick as before now.

I was deciding between this and the samsung tocco and the feature that made my mind up was that when in a wifi area I can log on to the internet using that for free.

Having said all this, by Dad got the same phone and isn't keen, misses having a keypad.

The only downside I've found is the battery life, it doesn't last very long at all.

Are we talking a day or 2 of battery life or less? And is that just general use, as opposed to multimedia usage? I read a few reviews which rates the battery to be decent?

Well I charged mine Monday overnight, have maybe spent thirty minutes on the internet since then, sent a few texts and made a few short phone calls, and it' says battery low.

I don't know how good that is, the battery life on my last phone was great, could charge it twice and week and that would be it, so maybe I'm been harsh and comparing it to that.

I have one myself and i must say this phone is one of the better "iPhone" beaters, cheap model but the phone itself is not cheap. Easy to use and customise and you can pretty much do things with one touch! the stylus is very handy too.

I mainly use it for texting, listening to music and browsing the internet. With this i get around 4-5 days battery life out of it! Which i think is OK. As for texting, the full screen qwerty is easy to use and even the mini qwerty keyboard can be used once perfected.

At this price its a good buy! ive had mine since launch and had no bother "touch wood"

Hope this can help

If you have battery problems with this as I did, you probably have old software. My phone was purchased in march from CPW and did start loosing charge quickly after a month of use. There was a software upgrade on Nokia Website and now lasts for days. Apparently it was a problem with applications still running in background and running batterys down.

Great phone after software updates.

My friend bought one only a couple weeks ago for £250 (plus £50 Quidco) and has been extremely delighted with his phone...that's until I just text him to say I've just seen it for £150. :giggle:

I've got a N95 8GB. I think this would be a considerable downgrade to what we have at the moment tbh. I'm waiting for the N97.
