Finally a deal below RRP for this phone. This should blow away any other touch mobile in its price bracket - a must have.

Damn it, you beat me to it!! i was thinking this phone is probably going to be cheaper once carphonewarehouse will have it in stock. I thought about it, if Nokia are selling it for 249.99, play sell it for 239.99 sim free, then carphonewarehouse should be selling it cheaper on pay as you go! now usually cpw have their phone already unlocked/sim free... let me know what you guys think, im guessing it will be around £200 on pay as you go

apparently only the 3g version has wifi? if i can get the 3g version then they've finally made my perfect phone and wont be buying anything for a good few years heh. had my 5310 for agessss as i've waited for a phone to have 3.5mm jack, wifi and gps as well as being quite slim! well done nokia :)

So just to confirm as its unclear on some sites: this comes with Wifi built in? So free web browsing if you are in a free wifi area?
#6
I am just wondering why this isn't hot yet? Is it somewhere cheaper? Voted hot! May get one as well ;-)

Fair enough, I thought the nokia site said wi-fi only available on the 3g version (which I guess was opposed to the 3.5g version. I didnt mean there is a version without 3g at all.

Yeah, well done Nokia. You have finally made a device that accepts a 3.5mm jack and not your propriety headphone jacks and chargers that people have been buying for years before throwing in the bin when they wont fit in the new model.

Bravo!

Yes but can you forward txt messages on the Iphone? :whistling: fairly basic option for a phone really and the Iphone does not support any 3D sat nav application like tomtom last time i looked :whistling:

Hi Guys.

Very tempted by this. Just signed up to an iphone contract but dontt like the idea of being tied down for 18 months especially with how fast technology is moving.

Does anyone know when the black will be available to pre-order and also does it have the equivalent of the 'app store'?

thanks for any help
#18
Can someone please remind me how I get the 5% discount? Iv tried to look it up but cant seem to find it,

THanks

Lol, the iphone will still be the best phone next year. Take the plunge! I changed my phone every 2 months for the last 7 years. I have had the iPhone for over a year. That says something lol. You will never ever go back!!
#20
Sweet this is a real bonus for me, had my pre order (done on the day it was available) cancelled by nokia for some reason (they wont tell me why) so i had to order it again yesterday meaning I'm back of the queue and estimated delivery was 3-4 weeks.

On seeing this cancelled my order with nokia, who by the way are a pain in the ass to deal with - who would of thought you couldn't cancel an online order without ringing them up? and ordered on play for almost £25 cheaper. plus now i only have to wait 5 day not 3-4 weeks

heat and rep added thanks!!!

You really think the current iphone will still be market leader in 18 months? I agree that currently it is the best phone but 18-months is a loonggg time in the world of technology and many phone manufacturers are getting nearer the benchmark.
#22
looking forward to the palm pre to come out hopefully middle of this year (if apple dont sue them). Vidos on youtube look good:thumbsup:

Are you serious?! Ive had Nokia phones for the past 2 years and both of them have had 3.5mm jack headphone sockets ;-)

I dont think it will last the full 18 months, but considering most phones only last a few months, it will have a good go.

I think the iphone nano will be out soon, and o2 will offer free upgrades to people even if they havent finished their contract.

If not free, very close.

Thing is, every update the iphone gets better, its like a new phone every time!
#26
Id much rather wait for the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic. It has a qwerty keyboard which is something I really want in a phone, but hot deal none the less.

Oh also does anyone know if this phone displays text messages as though they're conversations ala Iphone & G1. Cheers

I agree with you, apple would not accept defeat so easily. I think my real issue is that i just hate handing a phone company my testicles for 18 months. Who knows where ill be in 18 months!

ordered one thx

My N95 (Couple of years old now) has a normal headphone socket mate.

Just to let you all know, I have this phone on review at the moment. I will be posting a full review on my website soon (www.geekanoids.co.uk).

Early impressions. It is very nice in the hand. Nice large screen, very bright and clear. Touch screen is pretty responsive, not as good as the iPhone sensitivity, but pretty near. I have had a few times when I touch and nothing happens.

Between screens is nice and smooth, though a slight delay when clicking to play music or a video, only slight though.

Connected via WiFi and browsing is nice and quick, text is small at standard size but very crisp and readable. Overall, for the price (if I had bought it) I would be almost happy, but this is not an iPhone beater by any means. It is a music oriented touch screen phone.

This phone suffers from the same problem that the iPhone does, it's too damn big. Something with all the features that is more pocketable would be much more appealing. Touch screen is a bit of a gimmick and it's the reason the package is oversized. At least this phone will be for more normal people and not for geeks that use their gadgets as a social crutch - which is the case with iPhone owners.

But back to the deal, Nokia RRP is £249.99 so hot.

Good price but i dont exactly think its going to worry the iPhone....

yes the iPhone has its downs a lot of them in fact but what it is good at it executes better than any other phone...

wasnt trying to get into a peeing contest mate. just pointing out to the other user that there was already an option out there for them with what they wanted on a phone.

The 5800 has shipped 500,000 in the first month of sales (it has been available in other markets for a month). In the UK it is 30% cheaper than eurozone prices, and is not restricted to a single carrier with rip off pricing. So it should do OK for an oversize lump.
#37
I'm after a new phone but just cannot decide. Just got the missis an iPhone (with free touch the other days deal)

Its good but the lack of gps mapping and weak camera is a deal breaker for me - gobsmacked that the iPhone has not addressed these simple things....unless its clever marketing to hold something back for the next version.....

This does not seem like its going to flick my switch either - reviews say its good but not great.

Voted hot as alot of phone for the money but not what i'm looking for.
#38
If only a decent Sat Nav program like tomtom worked on it! - Think I'll hold onto my N95 for a while longer.
#39
Does anyone know if this version 'comes with music'??
I doubt it but worth asking
#40
Seriously, don't anyone believe this is anything as good as the iphone (and I am very much an iPhone critic). This is a very cheap piece of kit with a poor interface slapped onto an incredibly poor touch screen which you have to practically hammer to make it work sometimes. The overall feel of the phone is horribly cheap.

Anyone expecting to be impressed this should hold off until they can use it.
