Nokia 6111 Review

Phone rating:

Oh dear. Nokia's first attempt at a slide phone. It's obviously a response to the runaway success of the Samsung D500, and at first sight it looks like Nokia have matched Samsung's style. On paper it doesn't quite match up to the specification of the D500 - the memory is very small (with no memory card slot) and the screen is the worst of any phone in this price range. The camera is average for this type of phone. The one thing that the 6111 has that rivals don't is the stereo FM radio, but that hardly justifies the price tag.

However, take it out of its box, and the phone really starts to reveal its inadequacies. First off, it's a very unreliable phone. Many users have reported that their phones broke within days or weeks of purchase. The slide mechanism just isn't nice and is prone to sticking or breaking completely. The software is very unreliable, and freezing or shutting down is common. The battery life is worse than Nokia's figures would suggest. Audio quality is poor. The camera is well below average quality. The keypad is unresponsive ... is that enough to put you off? Read the consumer reviews below to hear more sad stories about the Nokia 6111.

Look, save yourself some grief, don't buy this phone - consider one of these better slide phones instead: Nokia 5200, Nokia 5300, Samsung E370.

If you really must buy the 6111, you can pick it up quite cheaply these days (I wonder why ..?) It was priced at over £200 when it was launched, but now you can get it from the Carphone Warehouse for as little as £49.95 on Pay as you Go.

Good price, rubbish phone. I bought my mum one of these for xmas. 2 months of having it, the LCD internal screen cracked just by being in her pocket.

The cover/clear plastic screen on it did not have a scratch, it had not been dropped or mishandled. The on/off button is also rubbish too. Went to get it replaced under warrenty but Carphone Warehouse said a lcd micro crack was physical damage and would not replace.

Crap phone that breaks easily, stay away.

I considered buying the 6111 last week but the reviews were pretty bad so I went for the Sony Ericsson K750i instead, which has a better camera and very good reviews overall.

I was going to buy it for £59.99 on clearance from Carphone Warehouse so it wouldn't have come in the original box with accessories so this i definitely a good price, but wouldn't recommend the phone myself

I've had the pink one 3 weeks & just sent it back as display faulty, from what I can gather, its a common problem with the 6111. other than that I am pleased overall & £50 is a good deal, just hope the replacement behaves!

Changed my mind!!! My Mom can wait!!

Had 2 of these phones from Amazon, both faulty after a couple months.
Shuting down when answered.
Screen going blank when using phone.
Eventually got a refund. No more 6111 for sure!!
