Just had a look at this and they appear to be offering a "Special Offer" of 8 momths half price, PLUS Free Nintendo Wii, and £160 Chequeback.

Also you have to remember to "Send your 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th monthly bills within 60 days of the date stated on the relevant airtime bill, to us and we will credit you by cheque with 25% of the total amount at each redemption period", but assuming you do I still can't understand their maths!

If the first 8 months are half price that is £160 (8 x £20), followed by 4 at £40 makes a total of £320 over the first year. As 25% of £320 is only £80, I am not quite sure where their £160 comes from!

I expect I am missing something, somewhere though!

Yes, you are.

£160 is the total cash back amount.

After the 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th bill are received, they'll give you 25% of £160 each time, 4 x £40 = £160.

Even if you were paying £40 per month, you would only pay £480 over a 12 month period, but as they say 8 months are half price, surely you are paying much less over the whole period... and therefore will receive less back.

The cashback is the 8 months half price.

If that is in fact the case I think that the way they have laid it out on their website is not at all clear... I would even go as far as to say confusing.

Thanks for your replies anyway.

"Unfortunately we cannot arrange to Port your number on Vodafone and O2 for website sales."

No use to me then, I have got my pac code off o2 due to the NGN saga and the change in terms and conditions. Looking for a good deal but it appears will have to go instore as I cant port online.

How much does it cost over the 12 months ?

Is it :

a) £480 - £160 = £320; or

b) £320 (8 x £20 + 4 x £40) - £160 = £160;

plus the free Wii.

Anybody ?
#14
as already answered, a.

The £160 cashback IS the 8 months at half price, they are the same thing!

I agree, slightly misleading in this case as it says 8 months half price plus £160 cashback.

To people who regularly take out cashback contracts it's obvious what it means. To others it's probably not!

There a few threads currently on MSE if you are interested........there are quite a lot of ppl who are thinking abt taking legal action against them!!

After being sent the required bills, they wanted a different one ........ after it was sent to the specified address ....... they want it to be sent to another address........ ppl r getting fed up. Im yet to send my second set of bills ......... knowing full well that they would find another excuse!!

ok so its my first post and I should ahve been more thorough but i thought it was a good deal given that phones4u are the number 2 independent retailer after carphone, therefore pretty reputable

500 mins & 500 text, after cashback per month £26.66 per month
say the wii is worth £150 and with £50 quidco which i forgot to mention works out at £10 a month exactly.

Given that its only a 12 month contract which is becoming rarer and you can sell the phone at the end of it, i think its pretty good

however, i think i will steer clear of posting mobile phone deals - it seems like there are too many deals to compete with!
