Looks good!

Excellent phone for the money. Rated HOT
#3
Would be interested to know if this is locked to T-Mobile...
#4
Likely to be locked to T-Mobile and Virgin, once received I will update as I have plenty of Sims from other operators.

Voted Hot

This phone was voted as outstanding on mobile phones uk and i believe the only mobile to ever receive 5 stars out of 100 reviews.

Absolute cracking phone, paid £150 a month or ago and im well chuffed with it.
#8
This really does make the same-spec-fancy-case Nokia 8600 Luna look awfully overpriced, I imagine this might be hitting £60 or less on PAYG by xmas, best solid midrange phone for a good while
#9
Is it Symbian?
#10
Had loads of phones on upgrades and new contracts etc. When I first got this I thought it was a bit too slim and maybe too tall for my personal liking (especially when trying to take calls by propping the phone under my chin). Nice big display and pretty good battery life (OK nothing will ever touch my old 6310i for battery life but that's progress for you eh).

The bottom line: - I've kept it for some strange reason and now I really, really like it. A very capable phone that packs lots of features. You won't regret this handset.

One small gripe - and it's only minor, it takes a thinner charging plug than my wife's nokia so we have to use a special adapter (or 2 ac chargers).

Yeah all new Nokia's come with the thinner power socket, but will work with any nokia charger with the end adapter, I ordered a few spare of ebay.

TC!
Is it Symbian?

No its 2G, but I prefer that - my N70 takes ages to do anything, is slllloooooww. My friend has a 6300 and its very very fast. Depends if you use symbian stuff, but due to the pace I cant be bothered with it.

Only downside to this phone is the battery life - and the charge time (can take 1.5 to 2 hours to charge, and it uses it up pretty quick too in comparison to other phones.

The screen is to die for - really high res and sharp, similar to the N95 screen.
#13
Symbian = OS type on a phone.

TC it's S40 Symbian I think, read the review link I posted.
#14
i'm sick of symbian fones
sometimes they take aaaages to do simplest things on fone
saw this fone in a shop last week and it looks and feels really good
#15
S40 is alot faster than the over featured S60 phones, all the S40 phones are highly praised for their speed etc.
#16
Well my S60 crawls along, the S40 6300 is soo much better as long as you dont want to install lots of S60 apps. IMHO
#17
Lucky the 6300 is S40 then :)

Yep, also it looks great, and takes normal USB rather than the usual complicated nokia cables! Plus the memory card is half the size of my N70 :)

As I say, only downside is the battery life, I suspect this is due to the screen.
#19
I have my N80 on the minimum time settings for display never had any battery problems which everyone cries about, but at the same time I have a bedside, home desk, work charges for it, it's plugged in 70% of the time.
#20
I charge my N70 once a week tops, but I dont make many calls (maybe recieve three or four a week lasting 5-10 mins. My friends 6300 needs charging every 2 days and she has a similar usage to me. Only she turns her phone off at night, whereas mine stays on 24/7
#21
All new phones have screens that completely suck away at their power, once a week is a pipedream for new phones now, daily is what people should be getting used to and reducing their phone display setting timeouts/display periods.
#22
how does one unlock this phone?
#23
My flatmate has this phone, nice looking and great size - but the camera sucks, both photo and video, shame really.

how does one unlock this phone?

It can't be afaik unless T-Mobile contact Nokia for you, it was introduced only this year, with time, as more people send the bb05 unlockers more logs, it'll be unlocked.

Right now only the follow bb05 Nokia phones can be unlocked manually (without the network contacting Nokia):
6630
6680
6681
N70
N71
N90

Guess I have a pipedream then  (N73). Once a week regular as clockwork...
Kept on 24/7, used mostly for texting...

I was exaggerating, I'll admit.

Lack of voice calls and you must be near a mast so the mobile transmitter doesn't need much power would be my assumption?

Also I wonder if the N73 just is better power wise, but most new phones still do suck power imo.

My ancient 6150 could go 2 weeks without charge.
#27
I've the had the N73 since August last year and in terms of battery life, it is the best phone I have ever owned. One full charge lasts for 3-4 days easily and I'm constantly on the phone (usually calls last at least 20 minutes). However, unlike others, I only charge the phone when the battery is COMPLETELY DEAD and not when the phone is down to one bar, etc.
#28
I love this phone, got it for £69 (after taking off my two years 10% discount back from O2) at first it will take some getting use to using the middle button to scroll around, the general size and feel. But after that its truly amazing. Synch it with outlook express, usb connectable if you have a mini usb cable for certain cameras, and you have your own dairy with you when you need it. The screen colour and display is amazing. Well worth it. The best phone I think I have had, till i get the sony ericsson k800i which does look good!!! The battery life on mine with the odd call and lots of texts with power saver on lasts about 2 days.

Not true.

The above models can be unlocked with free software and the correct cable plus drivers.

Most of the other BB5 models can be unlocked using professional unlocking boxes, of which the 6300 is one of them. Any good sized independent shop should be able to do it for you.

That is what I meant by manually, cable + software, ie home users..

I didn't know the newer BB5 models could be unlocked got any links to the forums etc for that?

Just did a quick check, £25 I saw, wonder if anyone else unlocked this 6300 cheaper, I didn't think newer BB5's were unlockable.

The unlocking boxes were released shortly after the software was released. However they were extortianately expensive and a prohibitive cost to most shops. There is a newer box out which is cheaper (only several hundred pounds instead of several thousand) but is very difficult to use and you need to be adept at opening up phones and using a micrscope.

This is why the cost is high, however with what's happening in the BB5 market, I expect prices to drop over the coming months. So if you want it done now, you'll pay the going rate, if you can wait you'll save some money.

The N73's screen isnt as good as the 6300 and has less colours. Might account for the battery situation. My N70 looks terrible compared to the vibrant sharp 6300 my friend has.

6300
16000000 colours
240x320 res

N73
262144 colours

Got one of these already, lovely phone but need to ensure you upgrade the firmware to v 5.0 as the video player isn't great otherwise.

hi whats your product code? i tried updating mine but was told that i had the latest firmware (4.70) which i no isnt. if yours doesnt have any branding then ill just change the code in nemesis, the code should be at the back under the battery.

i also read that holding the hash button to put the phone in silent doesnt work any more in 5.00, does it work for you?

You'll only get this price by using the code £10 trade-in and select free standard delivery.

Why is trade-in included in the price? It makes this deal avarage.

Cant you phone 3? I heard the networks charge £15-£20 to unlock the phones. Otherwise do the unlock solutions with the DKU5 cable not work for the n80? I just unlocked my own n70 which is a BB5 phone as discussed in this thread - http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83204&highlight=n70%2A
